Post Your Overclock Results.

I have my CPU clocked at 3.8Ghz for everyday use but I normally have speed step and all that other junk disabled for overclocking but I wanted to see if it was stable at 3.8Ghz with it all on.

So I did a stability test with Orthos with CPU-Z running and I notice about every 5 seconds it started jumping up to that crazy speed for a couple of seconds, it has never done that before and my computer is totally stable and running 32c normal and 47c under load.

It would be great if it could do that sort of speed, maybe one day..... 14.36Ghz WOW, I will keep on dreaming. lol

Photoshop.. No, it can't be. lol

ya that sure would be nice.

I run 24/7 at 4.0 Ghz, but I'm going to try to push my Max a little farther then my current (4.205 Ghz). I will this week on days off.

Hey guys...

Was reading this thread today and you got me all inspired.

I'll put up screenies when I get a chance...but, its going something like this:

Core2Duo E8500 3.16Ghz. Overclocked to 4.009Ghz @ 1.296V
On a GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-DS3R LGA775 IP45
Thats 422.0MHz with a 9.5 Multiplier.

Does a 1M prime in 11.80 seconds....Flies...Absolutely flies.

Stable as anything. I am quite literally amazed at this cpu and how easily it clocks.

Temps are more than comfortable @ 33 deg idle and about 45-48 under 100% load. Thats under a Thermaltake Big Typ 120VX and a lot of case fans.

Dollar for dollar these 8500's are freakin crazy value if you have the guts to throw some voltage at it.

I'd go for 4.5G but I want watercooling to do it. I am freakin stoked to get something this fast.....STABLE....I multibox Warcraft.....if it can handle a couple of hours of that, its stable.

Cheers guys....keep em coming. Loving the discussion.

Just if I may, with your case cooling....

Having lots of fans is one thing, but using them to your advantage is another. If you have a usual tower case, the kind of airflow that you are after is from front to back.. (Generally) Side fans just create turbulance inside the case and provide an opportunity for the air to get warmer. I've found the best way to have the fans set up is to have a couple of 120mm at the front, and a couple at the back also...just get a slipstream straight through. All those extra fans may look good, but they may just be warming things up....

Other than that, if you get one of those massive hovercraft fans in the side of your case....then go for it !!! some of those things are crazy....Anyhoo..

Nice Grim. I didn't know you were going water.. Not bad at all. I'd really like to water my CPU with a swifttech 220 or something. but not sure I'm ready to jump into the H2O game just yet.

and moirae not bad at all there sir. 4.0 Ghz with under 1.30v is pretty good. well under 1.3 in CPU-Z I'm assuming. with full load temps getting as high as only 48c you could for sure push that thing higher. if your only hitting maybe 48c you could easily push to 4.4 Ghz or so with that thing.. and farther for suicide runs. as long as the full load stays under 65c your ok. and sounds like your for sure under that. Well done.

That's OK I didn't know I was either, I went to local shop to see if they could get me some good chipset coolers and some how I got persuaded to buy the the Armour water cooled case instead lol. It's OK though I was looking at buying that case anyway, now I just need to find a good waterblock set-up for the chipset lol:):).

Thermaltake Armor LCS VE2000 Full Tower Case Review - hardCOREware.net

Is that what you have mate?

Pretty good way to start really....Great case that one.

Yes that's the one, cost me $315 which is probably a bit much but everything cost more up in the far north, we are the end of the road. I'm very happy with it but and if you look at the price of buying the case and water set-up separately you are probably saving a few dollars.

It has a nice big front mounted Radiator and it gives you plenty of room for extra cooling for chipset and GPU. The case has good cable management and a tone of room.:)

The only things I have noticed that were a bit of a shame is the pump and tank position on the base doesn't line up with all 4 holes, so I just ended up using 2 and also the hose connection on the pump is going to make it difficult if I want to run SLI on my board.

All in all I think it's a great case and worth the money, but don't ask my partner that:zip:, as her view may be a little different, being that she hates me spending money on anything computer related...oh well lol:D

I know that feeling lols...

Ive had my armor case for about three years now...or therabouts...Absolutely love it. Cops some criticism for the drive mounting now days, but it was absolutely brilliant when it was released...Great case for air cooling...tonnes of room and ventilation.

Giving some thought into buying a Coolermaster Cosmos S as an upgrade, and rigging that as my watercooled unit. That case alone goes for about three hunjie....I reckon you got a bargain.

Considering that the watercooling setup that I want is going to cost another $300 on top of the case.....and then I will want a new CPU to mess with....then a new GPU..........sigh

Not that stable yet, failed OCCT in the first minute and failed Orthos after few seconds, might be memory timings or voltges that still need adjusting. Might give it another go tonight.
