Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

I use the method shown here http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html and have never had to go through the double installation routine.

Hi,

I have a problem here. I downloaded the latest drivers 2.29 (a zip file of size ~34mb that i downloaded from realtek website) and installed it. This is the first time I ever updated my audio drivers. After restarting, I observed the following scary changes:

1) I no longer see a realtek audio manager or that brown audio button on the bottom right system tray.

2) In the control panel I cant find any realtek related icons.

3) In the device manager, under 'sound, game, video controllers' - the sound driver's name is now high definition audio device instead of realtek high def audio device.

4) I no longer see a notification when I plugin my headphones. Sound comes out from the speakers until I change my audio preferences by making headphones as default everytime I plug it in.

5) I disabled the system restore so I dont have that option now, I tried seeing if I can uninstall this driver that I just installed from programs but It shows NO INSTALLATIONS on today's date. I searched for the word 'realtek' and it is no where except in the file I just downloaded.

So does that mean the udpate that I just installed didnt even get installed?..where is the realtek audio manager now??..Are these the ill effects of updating the driver?? ..

I use a 32bit vista system and till today the sound thing was just perfect...donno y this thought of updation came in ...now I am skeptical if the current sound quality is the same as the one it was before or it actually got a bit worse ..

PLEASE PLEASE Suggest a solution as soon as possible.

Hi there,

when I choose 5.1 configuration in Sound Manager, the software enables "Sides" and disables "Rears" for surround speakers. This seems a bit strange to me, but is this normal for the Realtek software? I ask because if I plug my 5.1 analog speaker cables into the correct colour-coded output (black) this is for "Rears". To get sound from the surrounds I have to plug the black cable into the grey output for "Sides".

I thought the "Sides" where the extra speakers in a 7.1 config?

Can someone help me clear this up a bit?

Yep, I've just noticed. Unfortunately, they aren't quite ready for downloading. It is a bit annoying when they do that - updating the site before they are ready. This is not the first time that they've done that.

If these are my Driver details;

.......then when the new driver version mentioned by Dwarf is eventually made available, does it also automatically follow that I will be able to download and install it?

Or, does my current version mean that I will need to wait for an update from Windows, to update the driver to a later version?? I think that in the past, this latter method has been applied to my most recent Realtek Audio driver updates.

You should be able to download and install this version. I prefer to download and extract the .zip version, and then install as shown here http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html

problem/concern with R30

the new driver sound manager does not appear

i d/l did an install and ran install again
did another d/l did an install ad install again

and nothing show up

any ideas or wait for a new build

Did they ever fix the awful rear speaker distortion ? , i remember it being really bad through the rear speakers via that cloning option. Ended up buying an XFI !

Latest Acer HD Audio Driver - [Realtek].....in Acer OEM systems.

I currently have v6.0.1.5717 installed, and note that by the Vista WHQL Serial - ALC883, and this update, that this new version is now available and is compatible with my system.

So why is it then, if in Device Manager I search automatically for driver software, I get the following result from Windows?


All rather frustrating, and somewhat confusing for those Users, shall we say 'Technically challenged'.......mixed messages.
