Hi all,

I just built up a rig with a gigabyte EX58 and after trying many drivers, it keeps bugging me every 5 seconds when I plug in the headphones and mic on the front panel with the auto pop up dialog.:p

I went to gigabyte's website and dwl'd their last driver's version, no luck. I moved my two HD from previous machine including my dual Win 7 32/64 boot, other than that, no many suspects!

I already tried R221, R226, original CD with the 'azalia' driver, installed flashget so don't have to wait for ever when dwlding from ggbyte, changed connectors to AC97 but front panel doesn't appear and back to HD audio.

I unchecked the 'enable auto pop up dialog', it doesn't care!

Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

Anyhow,... just letting anyone know in case it helps someone. There are certain laptops that no matter what you install or what updates u get, its just not supposed to get any microphone hear thru loudspeakers.
It all does work on the big comp we have at home!

After months of trying to solve this problem I too thought it must be a limitation with the hardware, but then I installed ubuntu and the mic pass thru works fine on that OS. Hopefully some day I'll find a fix for vista but until then I'll have to use ubuntu for karaoke.

If anyone is wondering I have a acer extensa laptop, dual-boot ubuntu/vista.

Okay I'm hoping you people can be as helpful for me as you have been for others. I have a Quadraphonic Configuration. When I click TEST, I hear the sound normally out of all 4 speakers. When I'm playing music thru iTunes however, I can't hear anything out the back speakers. I just noticed when I check the "Speaker Fill" box that I can hear stuff out the back, but it definitely is only the voices of the music, and it sounds like they are underwater.

I want to hear the same thing out the front/back when I'm on Pandora or whatever...

Thoughts?

EDIT: I just went to the RealTek website and updated my driver.
EDIT2: I can hear stuff when I uncheck "Speaker Fill" and turn on SOME Sound Effects. This is freakin bizarre. Quarry works, Plain does not, City does not, Generic Does. But it still sounds like they're on the other side of a large room.

music is only 2 channel, i had this problem then it occured to me that most standard sounds are only stereo and not quadrophonic, try playing a 5.1 game and tell us if you hear sound without the speaker fill option enabled.

I am sort of afraid to update as each and every time I do, the update does not work and creates many problems. I prefer to just keep with what I have that works fine. If there is a major benefit then by all means I will figure out the problems and spend the time to make it work. I just really hate spending the time to correct the download and work out the install problems in order to improve what works now. That is just me!

Just installed the drivers successfully yesterday. First the old ones are installed followed by a reboot, then allow Vista to install drivers, then re-run the installation and reboot again. You can check by clicking the speaker icon to see what version you are running or from dxdiag and the sound tab.

Hi,

I have a problem here. I downloaded the latest drivers 2.29 (a zip file of size ~34mb that i downloaded from realtek website) and installed it. This is the first time I ever updated my audio drivers. After restarting, I observed the following scary changes:

1) I no longer see a realtek audio manager or that brown audio button on the bottom right system tray.

2) In the control panel I cant find any realtek related icons.

3) In the device manager, under 'sound, game, video controllers' - the sound driver's name is now high definition audio device instead of realtek high def audio device.

4) I no longer see a notification when I plugin my headphones. Sound comes out from the speakers until I change my audio preferences by making headphones as default everytime I plug it in.

5) I disabled the system restore so I dont have that option now, I tried seeing if I can uninstall this driver that I just installed from programs but It shows NO INSTALLATIONS on today's date. I searched for the word 'realtek' and it is no where except in the file I just downloaded.

So does that mean the udpate that I just installed didnt even get installed?..where is the realtek audio manager now??..Are these the ill effects of updating the driver?? :( ..

I use a 32bit vista system and till today the sound thing was just perfect...donno y this thought of updation came in :( ...now I am skeptical if the current sound quality is the same as the one it was before or it actually got a bit worse :( ..

PLEASE PLEASE Suggest a solution as soon as possible.

Alright I got it...I just missed a line while reading some of the posts. The solution is "Install it TWICE, the first time it just uninstalls and the second time it is actually installed". Now all my problems are solved. Thanks guys...hope my long query will help the future readers to get a clear view of 'what exactly happens when u think u have installed the drivers while u actually havent' - The symptoms and the solution. :)
