I'm not sure if this problem has been resolved but I've gone through 30+ pages with no luck or answers so I'm just gonna have at it and hopefully someone here can help me.
I recently bought a new Dell computer with 64BIT Vista Home Premium.
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 450 @ 2.20 GHz 2.19GHz

I know absolutely nothing about vista nor x64-bit as I've always used 32bit XP.
Anywho I cannot what so ever get the sound to work, it's so quiet that I literally have to put my ears next to the speakers to hear, the headphones however work GREAT, the mic I use for gaming and people have been telling me non stop I'm SUPER quiet yet all mic info is turned to max, same issue with the speakers. =/
They were working fine when I bought, I reformatted & all of a sudden after re-installing everything the sound was complete **** quiet but somehow got them to work again. Now all of a sudden they just don't work, really really quiet same with mic as I said, would be greatly appreciated if someone can help me that knows a little more about this driver & 64BIT then me.

I finally got my driver to update from their server.I've tried a ton of realtek drivers and the only one that would work was from like July '07.

So I have an optical cable connecting my motherboard (nvidia 650i SLI) to my onkyo receiver (I have a Creative x-fi xtreme gamer but that doesn't have optical out and I can't get any other cables working with it), but I'm not getting any 5.1 sounds coming out of my surround sound system. I've been trying to get the Realtek audio to work and I managed to get the HD audio manager up but the only options I'm seeing is the one's in the picture below.

How come I'm not getting any options to configure the number of speakers and bass management etc.? I downloaded the most up to date version from the very first post but just can't get it to match what you guys are seeing. Any help?

i done that when i was seeking help i didnt understand it nothing didnt not work can you explain more? please .. that is not my problem anyway i just want to delete my hd driver and get the alc sound card driver

n i get get the alc sound card driver and can i replace the realtec hd driver with the alc driver my pc is a gateway dx4710-09 vista 64bit 6gb ram 640 gb harddrive and it sucks this problem has been going on since i bought it brand new and gateway tech keeps giving me the run around please some body help me

Sadly, everything I try, I cannot get my surround sound to work. I have a 5.1 Logitech speaker system, and the only sound I get is from the 2 front speakers and the sub woofer. I have went through all the settings, nothing. Uninstalled, reinstalled the drivers from Realtek and from the drivers disk that came with the rig, nothing. Do any of you have an idea on why this is happening? I truly appreciate any help.

Update: Got it working. I disabled vista from automatically installing drivers, then removed the current drivers. I restarted. Then reinstalled the Realtek drivers. Restart again. After the boot, I opened up the Realtek Audio Manager, accessed the Device advanced settings, and selected the option, Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously.

I don't know if every single step was necessary, but this is the pattern that worked for me.

As always, thanks Shawn for heads-up on the new version. With FF3 Download management, the 2 x installation went like a breeze, unlike the episode of a year ago.:D

OK Kudo, let's start from scratch.

But before we begin, it will help if you would go to your User CP, and fill in as much of your System Specs as you can. This will often reduce the amount of writing that someone willing to help you, needs to do. For example, check out My system Specs, or even Brinks.

Right. To business.

Click on the link on the first page of this post here;



Click and check the box 'I accept to the above', and then click Next here;



Select which method of download [your options highlighted] you want to use from here;



...and select any of the Sites 1-3 for your download. Note that many Forum Members have found that the Express Sites, aren't!

Make sure that you are logged on in your Administrator Account, and if using Internet Explorer, download and save the File to your Desktop, and run and install the program from there. If using Firefox Download Manager, download and open and install from there.

Note that the installation can take some time, and at times it appears that the system has stalled. Just be patient and go and make a coffee or two, while it does it's thing.

After the first installation, reboot your Computer, and repeat the installation process all over again [but from your saved files, of course].

After the second installation, reboot your Computer again.

Verify installation by doing a check for it in Device Manager.

Thank you sassofalco I will complete the required info in my CP soon, but all you mentioned I have done it for over the years with success, but this time before installation begins after it extracted all necessary files it pop up telling me that there isn't anything to udape my version in that package.

Anyway thank you and I can manage with my old version until a next comes out I am just the kind of guy that likes to have all on his PC up to date no matter what.

as realtech are the main manufacturer for onboard audio they are constantly being used on new motherboards , each time their chip is used on a new board they release a new set of drivers for that board , as you may notice they release ALOT of driver updates , i wouldnt really bother installing new drivers unless like the poster you are having an issue , realtech very rarely release drivers fo bug fixes and if they do its documented in the driver release

The 'issue' 12 months ago was with the then, very inexperienced 'poster' [at that time a Newbie Forum Member], and not the Software.

Then, as a result of some patient guidance and advice from Brink and other understandable and more technically adept Members of this Forum, the 'poster' learned a lot about the intricies of various Audio Drivers, and of the best and recommended methods to carry out updates, in general.

What the 'poster' learned through that exercise, has held in good stead ever since, and resulted in a method of faultless Update Downloads.

Bugs, or the lack thereof, don't worry or concern the 'poster'. If an update is available and applies to software in the 'poster's' system, then the 'poster' sees no reason to baulk at what is being offered, and will update accordingly. It's called keeping the system up-to-date, for any eventuality.
