Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Hi guys I have a creative 24 bit external sound card installed. Have an emachines ett1161-07 model with vista home premium well when the sound card is installed my realtek hd audio controls in the control panel don't show up there is now a box that says audio control and will not open says this device is not detected. I am trying to use the headphone jack in the front of the tower which works fine and only has the general options in playback but wanted to tweak more if I could. But also wanted to get the lastest updates for the realtek drivers and get better sound out of my headphone. WTF lol. is it a case of you can't have both ? Let me ask also I have this external sound card for an old computer am I better off just using the realtek instead of the external would that have just as good sound? HELP please and I'm also afraid to download the latest version of the highdef realtek software becuase I have an emachines and don't know which one is right . Frigging emachines just has one download doesn't tell you the version or anything and this computer is over a year old so I figure there has to be a better update. Big audiophile here want the best sound I can get. BTW go a FiiO headphone amp the thing rocks for like 24 bucks. Check them out Can't believe neither the desktop or my creative or my frigging new logitech speakers come with a headphone preamp already Fu......... lol.

Sorry guys I have another question
I downloaded it unistalled o,k but when computer re booted it installed drivers automaticly and now although I do have some extra options ie headphones The driver number is the same as the old one.

I don't have the "Advanced Device Settings" tab in the top right hand corner of the control panel app.

The app is branded as Acer even though I'm sure was written by the latest Realtek driver installer package. The driver is the very latest driver too.

So I'm stumped. I've tried different versions of the driver and the installer and thus the app but it's always the same.

Does anybody have a solution?

Ultimately I want to switch the microphone and the headphone jack as the headphone jack is loose. I've read you can do this with the Realtek management software although I'm not sure it's possible with the ALC889.

If anybody has any info on this I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Yep. Just read the red Warning Panel, that Brink has included in the introductory notes, on page 1 of this Forum. Seems the case for Acer.

Tried newest drivers along with newest ones supplied by my mobo manufacturer ASUS.
Running Win 7 pro.
Sound has been working fine and all, but I can't reassign jacks... Right clicking brings up the "Audio Device Settings" options, which just opens up the main tab of options (Effects, room correction, etc.) and double clicking does nothing.
Trying to reassign my line out jack to be usable as a rear speaker jack, or even reassign my front headphone jack to rear speaker.

The difference is that one is executable, meaning you just double click it, and one is zip compressed.
