Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

you said ur front panel doesnt work, but it works with an old version of the driver... i fail to see the problem. if it works with that "old version" then why are you going so hard on using the latest version? realtek doesnt cares if the new one doesnt works(they will send you to sapphire), sapphire doesnt cares either (they will give you the last driver they had, or something else) nobody else cares about you bawing about realtek.
seat tight, use the driver that works and shut up. let other ppl with real problems baw here.

this is the exactly same problem i have with my nvidia card, if i use the latest nvidia drivers, the "factory" overcloking from msi will disapear... do you see me bawing at nvidia or even bawing at msi for new drivers? the ones i have works.. simple.

im just saying, its dumb to baw about new drivers not working (specially bawing at the chip manufacter) if old ones works, and the motherboard wasnt made by realtek. the chip is there.. but everything else is sapphire.. would you baw at samsung about their dvd drive inside the xbox?

For your GPU you can simply modify the GPU BIOS to set the factory overclocking settings (or you can use rivatuner... I don't remember if rivatuner can write on the GPU BIOS)... with my RADEON 3870 I don't need to modify the GPU BIOS: only after the first boot of Windows I installed the ATI drivers and the CCC and I set my overclocking settings. At every upgrade of the GPU drivers the overclocking settings remain..

I have an issue with the Realtek drivers, you have only a unavailing overclocking problem that you can resole easily and keeping the drivers up-to-date.

Ok Ferjero989 and Dark Radeon, lets calm it down.

THX to Good (or Satan if u want... I'm unbelieving ^_^) I don't have an X360 ^_^

PS: in this case it was Microsoft's gilt ^_^ (Microsft known those problems and they say and made nothing.)

PPS: I think u don't have clear the different between an hardware/BIOS/Firmware issues and a software/driver issue.

well as far as i know.. if its a hardware problem.. it will never work. if its a software work.. maybe another software will work.. in your case you already have the solution, and old version works.. use it and move on.

R2.14 = no change for ALC880 front panel output issue .-.

The funniest is that ALC880 model had never been supported officially by Realtek under Windows Vista accordint to the REadme -.-

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Just a question.. Is it worth upgrading to newest drivers every time they come out? I am pretty particular about making sure I have the newest drivers always updated, but I noticed once in a while, the Realtek drivers will cause a popping sound when I lower and raise the volume, and sometimes in game.

Ill generally have to revert back to the prior drivers to fix this.

They do release updates a LOT, just wondering your thoughts on this.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hello Kinematic,

It depends on if what is listed as updated in the new driver version's readme file addresses any issues you have or not with the older driver version.

I would always recommend to keep a copy of your current driver version installation file backed up somewhere just in case the new one does not agree with you though. Luckily for a audio driver, it's no big deal to revert back to the old one if needed.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Realtek must have some serious problems with their website, but don't appear to be interested in fixing them. :sa:  :sa:

For example, instead of the name appearing in the address bar, the actual IPv4 address sometimes appears instead. As well as that, it is extremely slow to load and often the following error message appears, either here or at other points when navigating the site:
attachment.php

Sometimes, clicking on a link brings you back to the main page instead of the page you require. Ocassionally the Realtek website causes IE7 to hang and stop responding - the only way out is to force IE7 to close and restart. When I eventually get to the download itself, the Estimated time left: has, at times, been as long as 8 Hours. Needless to say, I am not prepared to wait that long.

I am going to submit a copy of this to Realtek, but, like the rest of my submissions, I am not expecting a reply, but if I should get one I shall, of course, post the contents of it here.

E-mail to Realtek sent.

the server is based in taiwan, so i wouldnt expect them to be able to do anything about it. try downloading something from gamershell.com from the austral-asia servers and you will know what i mean.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

If you guys don't mind waiting a day or two you can always get it from here,

Realtek HD Audio 2.14 Driver download from Guru3D.com

all they do is take the XP and Vista drivers and add them to a single zip file (self-extracting 7zip actually). If nothing else you'll get a decent download speed from there, instead of the dial-up servers that Realtek uses.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

The distortion through the rears is Awful vista & win 7!! , never heard anything like it. The xtreme audio soundcard doesn't do it but that doesn't work correctly in windows 7

ALC890 Audio Codec
windows 7 drivers havent been developed yet, the drivers you are using are not windows 7 compatible. however if your getting distortion in vista, i suspect it maybe an issue with the jack inputs. since you dont get the same problem with your creative soundcard, try and plug the cable into another jack and set that as the front speakers out. it its still distorted then you have an issue with the driver.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Between Windows NT 6.0 (Windows Vista) and NT 6.1 (Windows 7) the driver model is almost the same, the biggest difference is that the GPU drivers could will be DirectX 11 compilant... For other devices, if their drivers are correctly written for Vista, the will be run correctly in Windows 7... For the SoundBlaster: this is an "ester egg", 'couse Creative has never wirtten a good driver for a device xD

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Typically, I go with the rule "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" when it comes to drivers.

Every time you upgrade a driver, you risk the chance of breaking something in the process.

Just because something is new doesn't mean it's better.

If everything works in my system, I am not going to upgrade the drivers for no reason.

I don't flash my BIOS unless something doesn't work either. Why take unnecessary risk when the surgery is elective?

Thanks for that , how do i change a different jack for rear output? , front speakers are fine.

P.s I knew about the win 7 driver thing already , hence the beta os and no win 7 listing in the drivers :)

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

For everyone who hates the slow download speed from realtek try this, I have done this with the last two downloads and it downloads it a about 1 minute.

Copy the download link and use Bitcomet to download, I had an average speed of 400-600kbps SWEET!!
