Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

The distortion through the rears is Awful vista & win 7!! , never heard anything like it. The xtreme audio soundcard doesn't do it but that doesn't work correctly in windows 7

ALC890 Audio Codec
windows 7 drivers havent been developed yet, the drivers you are using are not windows 7 compatible. however if your getting distortion in vista, i suspect it maybe an issue with the jack inputs. since you dont get the same problem with your creative soundcard, try and plug the cable into another jack and set that as the front speakers out. it its still distorted then you have an issue with the driver.

Thanks for that , how do i change a different jack for rear output? , front speakers are fine.

P.s I knew about the win 7 driver thing already , hence the beta os and no win 7 listing in the drivers :)
simply plug your audio cable into another jack input, instead of plugging it into the green one, plug it into the black one.

Hmmmm...........

My FRONT green cable connection is plugged into the green output , my REAR black cable connection is plugged into the black output. How can i instead of plugging it into the green one plug it into the black one , if the black one is already used by the rears

Your post is confusing me

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Decided to ditch it and go back to the Xtreme Audio , the rear distortion... Low Rear sound and in windows speaker properties it won't let me change the balance of the rears. According to vista/win7 custom playback levels when having the realtek installed my rear's don't exist lol. I can select quad or 5.1 in system speaker setup but not the balance

Like this ( Xtreme Audio )

I can do all this with the Xtreme however ill just have to wait till thats working correctly in windows 7

first of all i was referring to the rear panel, i have attached a picture of what a rear panel looks like, on my system at least, there are 6 available jack inputs on my motherboard, if you have any of your jack inputs free, they all support 2 channel stereo, plug your green jack output into a different jack, it doesnt matter which.
seems as clear as day to me.

My Subwoofer has 4 speaker outputs , the audio wire goes from the subwoofer and into the soundcard. However its not a single wire its a dual wire , one is green and one is black. I can plug the green wire into any output and still get 2 channel but the black wire has to be plugged in to get 4 speakers , its how the subwoofer from creative works. I've tried swapping the black wire into another output but then the surround doesn't work right as its in a different speaker setup.

But as soon as i enable " SPEAKER FILL " , this is when the distortion happens and reading other forum posts others are getting the same. Speaker fill = off no distortion but no rears , Speaker Fill = On and its distorted. Its very much like XFI Xpand option but then that works as it should but this onboard sound is better than the xtreme audio just the software kinda blows.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

I have no "port reassignment" options with my realtek HD system , its a Realtek ALC890 - 8 Channel HD audio Codec. Anyone else not got this option? , i need to resign my output because the black REAROUT is giving me distortion through my rears.

plug the jack output for the black one in the grey one and "double click" the grey one and set to rear speaker out

Realtek HD - Rear speaker distortion FIX ( VISTA / WINDOWS 7 ) - Rage3D Discussion Area

Hmmm i'm the only one so far that it doesn't work for , perhaps because mine is the very latest codec?.

Example

Pr3tty F1y: alc889a ( works )
P1x44r: alc888 ( works but using 2.03 )
Mine: alc890
i wouldnt expect anything to work perfectly in windows 7, its in the beta stage and its only used for testing, if it doesnt work then send feedback, when the final release comes then this problem wont exist.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

This is my first attempt at using an onboard sound card and it is also the first time I've had issues watching videos. When I try to play a video I get an error, I click on web help and this is what I get. And yes my drivers are up to date and I've also installed k-lite.

You've encountered error message C00D11B1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.
Cannot play the file

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:
  • <LI xmlns:mnp="http://www.microsoft.com/MSCOM/MNP2/Schemas">Your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller, requires an updated driver. To determine if an updated driver is available, see Windows Update at the Microsoft Web site, or see the sound device manufacturer's Web site.
  • Your sound device is not functioning properly. Try using Device Manager to check the status of your sound device.
I've checked all that and everything is OK

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

hello, 1st off all tanks for teh suport that are being prested here!

I have a an asus p5kpl motherboard... and to take that max usage of 4ram i have been imigrated from 32xp to vista64. Everything went ok with drivers such as razer copperhaed, and lg webcam... the problem started with the audio driver.
Asus motherboard comes with realtek so i downloaded the last realtek drive for vista64 on realtek website.

My pc have audio entries on the front and on the back. i allways used the back ones because in the front my audio cable dont fit it is 2 big :S
So after installing the new drivers, i did what u sugested chossing the second options to have both streams. That was when my pc recognized a "HD audio 2nd outup" (my phones linked on the rear of the tower). Beside that i still without earing... as i open wmp all goes right song start and evrything but an error appear and sound dont even start.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hey,

I am running the latest(6.0.1.5772) codec, and my issue, aswell as others, from what i can make out, is the lack of a simple option..... which is jack retasking.....
Back when i was running XP, it used to ask me what i had pluged in, and for multi speaker setups, like two or more 2.1 configs, i used just select line out for all. But since i got vista..... it just wont allow me to retask the connectors.... very irratating.

MrNeeds, what version of HD Manager are u running???? i double clicked my finger off and could'nt get that menu...... also, i cant get my speakers to work whenplugged into anything but the front spkrs out (green conector).... but i assume that would change if i could retask the connectors....

thanks

farout here. iv did this years ago when my son who taught me the pc that i could not do what i had install when he was not here. my hobby for years was stereo components. i started when i was a boy with the 1st crystal radio and over the years as it grew i followed. i have no manager hooked up or should i say downloaded. my set up is pc digital out to dennon avr 2700 digital out. so i have the use of pc with my dennons features. the speaker set up is from my amp just like a home theater setup. and my son said i could not do this at one time . the audiophy had jioned the pc world. that is spelled wrong. i am running a home theater thru my pc. i know today they have pc joined to tv receivers hooked to hard drives then to tvs etc. that was just a simple hook up i thought would work and it does to perfection. i use to have an audigy sound card with digital plug so i hook my digital out on amp. to the sound card on the pc and it worked. thats how i got started.it didnt say i could do that. but it worked fine. sorry about the pc speaker situation. dont know much about that. never really used them. if this bit helps and you have an amp with coaxil out your in business. bad spelling. and digital plug on pc you will not have that problem. its easy as pie! farout:cool:

farout here forgot to tell you it might be codecs installed. i have to use AC3 codec for that arrangment. there are other codecs .worth looking into. ok

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

farout..... Ya, i'm sure hooking up a Creative SB audigy would allow me to acheive desired results, and an external Amp, or Diverter even more so...... But what i'm getting at is the simplicity of solving the jack/connector retasking issue resides solely in software..... i could do it using the same hardware, with OEM drivers, for XP....... But in vista, whether OEM drivers, or downloaded updates, its just not available...... i'm wondering maybe i should do a complete un-install, and then re install only my XP drivers, would that work???? ANYBODY??? But seeing as 58 pages have been posted, by people far more proeficient and knowledgeble than me, maybe i should just reconcile myself to having two sets of 2.1 speakers(Altec Lancing and Logitech) lie unused and gathering dust.....and make do with just the singe 2.1(also altec). buts its frustrating...... oh so frustrating......:-(

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

I have a problem that I came across last night while testing the sound on my computer.

I'm currently using an ASUS P5Q-LE Motherboard running latest drivers obtained from their website (dated from 12/26/08). I'm using Altec Lansing ATP3 speakers (2.1 speakers) connected to the rear panel of my computer.

Anyway, it seems as though the sound that going through the left audio channel plays through both my speakers. i.e. I'm getting Mono sound through both my speakers. If I test the sound using the Realtek Manager/Sound Manager in Windows, when the left speaker is tested, I hear sound from both speakers. But when the right speaker is tested, I hear nothing.

I've done some searching on the internet and perhaps one solution is to set my audio from HD Audio to AC '97. Is this a plausible solution? If so, how can I actually do this in Windows?

In my BIOs settings, I can only manipulate my front panel audio to switch between HD/AC.

Edit: In Realtek HD Manager, setting is set to "Stereo". I have Quadphonic(sp?), 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, and (I think) 8.1 settings. I don't have 2.1 oddly enough.

Edit again: Problem turned out to be a stupid user problem (me). Cable connecting sub to pc was loose. Seems to be okay now.
