Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Shawn,

I started with the ASUS drivers and upgraded to the 180's several months ago. It worked until I tried to upgrade to the 194 version.

I've been doing a bit of searching on the interweb today and have seen some information about KB888111 and the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver.

I'm hoping that will help me out. I'll let you know what I find.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

I am still attempting to download the latest AC'97 Vista driver from Realtek (I know that this thread is about the HD driver, but it is still from Realtek). I am still getting speeds similar to the one I posted earlier. I will keep trying, but, in my mind, rates such as this are totally unacceptable in this day and age. They would have been acceptable a few years ago when more people used dial-up connections, but I feel that Realtek need to do something and upgrade their download servers in order to meet todays needs. To put it into perspective, I downloaded the standalone version of SP1 (32-bit, 5 language) in far LESS time than it would take to download this driver. If SP1 downloaded at the same rate as the speed offered by Realtek, it would take almost 16 (SIXTEEN) and a half hours to do so. This is a bit of a rant, so my apologies for that, but this is SO frustrating. In addition to this, it has been causing IE7 to stop responding, even when it is the only tab open (I have run upto a dozen tabs in IE7, including downloading files, without any problems).
Dwarf

I have today (05-29-2008) emailed Realtek with the following, and I am waiting for their response (if any).

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

^ It took me approx. 30 min to download individual drivers from Realtek a few days ago...i d/l like 5 different drivers...took 4ever.

I recommend leaving your CPU on overnight to finish the download lol

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

yeah the download speed is crazy :/ now if realtek could make some sort of notification in the task bar of how loud your volume is, then I could get rid of Vista's own volume icon, since Realtek's is better in all aspects.

And since we're wishing here, I wish that Realtek could make better clocks (or what they're called) so that when using a professional sound application, the sound is stable and easy on the ear (my card speeds up to very fast, then I get no sound at all). That way I wouldn't need to re-wire my external audio card to be used every time I want to hear a sound mix.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hello everyone. I'm runnning Vista Ultimate x64 on an ASUS P5K-SE mobo, with apparently has 883 Realtek chipset. This thing has six rear analog connector (no front connectors). I'm using Vista_R194 from Realtek.

I usually only use one of those six jacks (the green one) to connect to my stereo.

With the same machine in Windows XP it was able to detect when I plugged in a separate headphone, and feed both things the same sound (this is the more important part). It also allowed me to 'separate' those those into two sound devices, so I could eg play music on the speakers while listening to a podcast with the speakers.

Now in Vista, I don't seem to be able to do any of these (I don't have a front panel - any ideas where I could get one of these?). The only, and very hackish way to get both jacks to output the same sound is to set the speakers to 'Quadraphonic' and use the jack on top of the green one (I think it is the black one?) and the green one (screenshot attached). But I can't get separate outputs.

Am I missing something?
Thanks for all the help.

No offence, but I never understand the way people seem to think.
Like you said, a few years ago we were all on dail-up connections. Paying for every minute. So it stands to reason back then we should have had extremely fast download speeds in order to keep the price low...but we didn't.
Now we pay a fixed, low price per month and we can be online as long as want, so who cares about download speed? Yes, it is important when we watch movies etc. but downloading? Hell, just let it run in the background. in fact I like slow download speeds, that way they don't interfere so much with my bandwidth when I am watching a movie while waiting.

Just my view. Again, no offence.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hi Njnitehawk,

NO. Don't delete the Realtek 8169 in Program Files (x86).
That is for your network device, same as mine, and not audio. ;)

When you install the audio driver, it will automatically uninstall the old version for you the first install and reset, then install the new one on the next install and reset.

Yeah - I just did a brand new install (formatted the second 500 GB into 5 equally sized partitions for 4 OSs) and just installed R194 yesterday - and now I need to install R195 - it was ironic - because I was on their FTP servers at what should have been 6/6/08 their time by several hours already.....

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Just want to warn you guys. Call of Duty 4 will not launch if you update to 1.94 and 1.95 as a fix is not mentioned. I thought I should update for a driver's sake, but I was caught off guard. I'm on 1.91 and the game is working perfectly. Now, the issue isn't with Realtek's drivers, per se (more of bad COD4 programming), but the issue is not present with 1.91 and is with 1.94. I'm afraid to try 1.95 until an official fix is out from either Realtek or Infinity Ward (publisher). Here is the main thread about it.

Really, so 1.95 works? I'm a bit afraid to try it, but, hey, what's the worst that could happen? :)

Also, does anyone else NOT have the yellow folder in the top right of their Audio Manager? People keep talking about it, but I've never seen it?

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

OK, I read through the thread, and I still can't find a way to get quad speaker output as in XP, any news on that?

The spread option doesn't work for me, the only way it seems to be working is if I enable some of the enhancements (like Room) then I get all four speakers working, but I still have to check on my home computer....

My question is if realtek is working on fixing this problem? (i know this probably isn't the best place to ask this, but anyway...)

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hi Ibrahim,

The drivers will vary with each model on the available features. What is your model number to see if someone with the same one has it or not to? You can click on the i button in the bottom right corner of the HD Manager window to see the model number in the Audio Codec box.
