Update:

Nvidia just released two new driver sets, one for CUDA 2.1 release, and another for NFS underground release.

I've read many many reviews and the 180.70 have got some pretty bad reviews. and they are not working to great on the majority of people that have them. but the CUDA release the 180.60 drivers are working great. and people have noticed a SOLID increase in FPS.

Where I was looking the FC2 fps was about 5fps average better on 180.60 than they were on 180.70. and the same goes for GRID, NFS, and a few other games. the 180.60 are around 5-15fps better.

Also these are much much better than the 180.43, and the 180.48. as the 180.48 drivers took my GTX260's PPD on F@H from around 8000 PPD down to 5600PPD. i had a almost 3000 point DECREASE with them. I'm not happy about that.

currently downloaded. and about to install the new 180.60 drivers. and you can also get the CUDA 2.1 drivers from the site as well.

Hi Gunther.
I just installed the 180.60 drivers moments ago. They've installed fine but I've not tried them with a game yet.
You mentioned CUDA 2.1. Do I need them or PhysX drivers or are they included ? I've ran a search on the Guru3D site and can't find the CUDA 2.1.
I'm fairly new to this and haven't really bothered about GPUs before as I wasn't into gaming.
When I got this rig I had a 8600GT but soon upgraded to a 8800GTS OC. Since then there have been a constant stream of new and better drivers and my card now seems about twice as fast as when I bought it (that's probably an exaggeration but it's a lot better)
Is this normal for Nvidia cards?
I've been considering going to a 4870 next year but they don't seem to keep on increasing their cards potential like Nvidia do or maybe I'm just missing it.

No they don't increase with drivers as much as ATI. but they do a little bit.

Also I'd not get the 4870. I'd wait for the new release by Nvidia that should be coming by end of December. and see how they are before getting an ATI card.

also I'm not sure if the CUDA 2.1's are embedded into this driver or not. I'm pretty sure Physx is though.. I can try and find out. google CUDA 2.1 drivers and I'm sure you could find them.

Also yes I'm sure your 8800GT is around 1/3rd faster now.. that sounds about right.

I'l get these drivers installed in a few hours and see how they work, as the 180.44's are causing me all sorts of trouble so far, lower F@H PPD.. like 3000 PPD less than before, and games are weird. not to mention i had a large 3Dmark06 point loss. but if you want the highest score in mark06 get 178.24 they are known to give the best score in Mark06

Hi Skunk, I followed your link to File Font and these drivers have been put up by someone called Gozilla.
Does that mean he's made them himself?
There's no indication which cards they are for. I'm a bit reluctant to try them without some more info.
Have you installed them yet?

They are pretty well known and have quite a good rep. Mitch is spot on when he says this particular driver is getting a good rep. You can download direct from the forum if you would feel more comfortable!

Thanks Norm. I had a look at the tweakforce site and have downloaded the Vista 64 bit driver to my desktop. Gotta work now so may install them later.
Most of the blog entries sound positive and I noticed some are on 8 series cards but there's also mention of stuttering in some games.
I'm using 180.60 at the moment and they seem good. Think I'll wait until someone confirms they work with 8 series cards and generally get some more feedback about them. Later no doubt.

You can get them from nZone as well Grand Theft Auto IV by Rockstar Games

Though they're more for GTA4 7900 users who were having a lot of problems with them. I've also seen a few 8 and 9 series users having a few problems with them on the Steam forums.

The new drivers, the 180.84 are making a slight diffrence in GTA4, at least on my system :] The game at the same settings runs much more smoothly Didn't noticed any artifacts or anything unusual with theese So I can recommend those drivers :]

Halo 2 kept blue screening my comp with these drivers.

And GTA4 ran better in the benchmark. Got 40 fps average, then ran a bit better when playing until the memory leak kicked in and got stuck at 20fps.

Hi All,

Thought I'd give these 180.84 drivers a try so I downloaded them from Nvidia and attempted to install.
Immediately I get a FRAPS installer. I already have FRAPS but let it go ahead and install. I expected the drivers to install after that but nothing happens at all.
I've now tried it several times, both letting FRAPS install and cancelling FRAPS and I still can't get to the actual driver installer.
Admittedly I'm not doing this in safe mode, using driver cleaner etc, but I haven't done that for the last half dozen drivers and it's worked fine.
I'm currently on 180.60 and I don't imagine these will make much difference. Somebody mentioned they are for a specific game (Farcry 2 I think).
Still it's weird that I can't install them.

Try them in safe mode and see where you get with that. I always install drivers in safe mode and these ones installed fine.

Also, they're optimised for GTA4.
