Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

181.20's seem fine. Just had a go on GTA IV and it fixed a lighting issue I had, and Left 4 Dead plays fine as well.

I was going to wait for Nvidia to release a driver for ambient occlusion before I give it a try, was thinking maybe the next beta driver could have it.

they already have a BETA with AO included.. like 185 i think.. not sure where 181-184 drivers went though. lol

edit. I'm installing the new 181.20's right now. I'll let ya all know how they go.

185 are modified drivers. I don't use them

I learnt how to enable AO in Crysis Warhead without the AO drivers, so I've spent my time looking at how much more pretty it looks now

Yes. As I said it's very subtle but you notice when it's not on.
I don't particularly trust modded drivers either but I cant find any WHQL ones that'll do AO. Perhaps the next release?

Well apparently, on my voyage around the Internet, someone told me that 185.20 aren't modified drivers, they're just alpha drivers from Nvidia, though that also most likely means that the next beta drivers will be these.

Has anyone tried AO on older games? Was wondering how it would look on a game like Half Life

This works with any drivers for anyone wondering, not just 185.20.

That's amazing Everlong, thanks. I'll use that if the 185.20s start bugging on me.
So far I've been using them with Fallout 3 and Farcry2 and I've had a quick look at Mass Effect and Bioshock.
They all look great with Ambient Occlusion enabled. Farcry2, which is not my usual type of game looks fantastic. Dappled light through foliage and a real sense of depth. great.
So they're alphas? even dodgier than betas!
Well in those two games they've been solid for me so far but I've had had a few fairly brief sessions.
Could they damage my graphics card?

Dunno if drivers can actually damage cards. One guy on the GTA forums on Steam said the 180.84s damaged his. Said he rebooted and nothing came on his screen and couldn't use his comp, but these 185.20's seem to be fine (not used myself still, though). I've read a bit about them on various forums and nobody has said anything bad about them.

I'll definitely get the beta drivers with ambient occlusion in them. The Crysis Warhead AO looks great, so looking forward to trying other games with it.

Don't know whether any one has had my problem but I am getting blue screen when trying to install the 181.20 nvidia drivers. I am running 2 Leadtek 7800GTX Factory OC cards and I notice most of you guys are running 8 or 9 series cards. Anyone experiencing problems with 7 series cards?

I'm on 181.20. they seem ok. I'm going to try the 185's and see how they are next, or maybe that my CP is working I'll leave it alone.

181.22 beta drivers have been released.

Just remember 185 are alpha leaked drivers.

XtremeG 185.20 gave me great performance on GTA4 but try & play COD4... :eek::eek: i was lucky to see 20fps....

but 181.20 seems to be a good all rounder, still haven't got round to 181.22 yet
