That's what I'm wondering. I haven't liked any of the GTA series so don't intend getting the new one.
The 180.60s seem fine for the games I have so is it worth the hassle of a full safe mode install? Are there any other benefits?
Best wishes, John:)

180.48 are just normal drivers I think with the Farcry 2 improvements. Afaik they aren't optimised just for Farcry 2 as that's what the betas were for.

Hi Norm,
I just installed them and had a quick blast on UT3 and Mass Effect
Seem smooth and no drop in fps, in fact maybe a slight improvement. I'll give them a better test tomorrow with Fallout 3 and report further.

Seasons greetings all,
I've been quite busy celebrating over the last few days but have managed a few gaming hours.
I reckon I've done about 6 hours in Fallout 3- 2x3 hour sessions- and the same in Mass Effect and everything seems fine with these 181 drivers.
I had a few jerky bits but I'm thinking that my card (BFG 8800GTS OC 512MB) is getting a bit long in the tooth for this stuff. Anyway both games very playable and no crashes or major problems. That's with settings maxed.
Also watched a couple of Blu Ray movies and they were fine too.
So my impression is that these drivers are good.
Hope you all had a lovely time wherever you are, John:D

there is just a small downgrade in 3dMark06 with theese drivers -
on 181.00 on the default test I had 13963 marks
on 185.20 on the same default test settings I have 13914 marks
so far everything looks smooth, no artifacts occured :)

I don't really go for modified drivers personally. I'm still using 180.84 myself, and not had any problems with them.

Yea I've got them running. Had a bit of trouble installing though. Uninstalled and rebooted in to safe mode, used driver sweeper, rebooted back in to safe mode and tried installing. Finished installing then got a message saying it failed to start an Nvidia service and needs to reboot, so I rebooted and they weren't actually installed.

So I tried to install them while in normal mode, and they installed fine and rebooted with no problems. Gonna have a go on some games now.

Hi Everlong, I know you don't like betas or mods but I'm using the 185.20s and they seem great to me. They include " ambient occlusion" which is pretty subtle but you notice it if you turn it off.
Also recently I've noticed problems installing drivers, WHQL ones as well, in the proper way ie in safe mode, driver sweeper etc whereas if I just download and run them in normal mode they install fine.
Just thought I'd mention that.
Let us know what the 181.20s are like when you've tried em out. As I say the 185.20s seem good but I've only tried them with two games so far.
Best wishes, John:)
