Sure, give it a try Gunther. You can always go back to the 178.14 version if it does not work well for you.

I hear there is another 180. driver release.. but I can't find it on nvidia site. it has some good performance increases of around 13% across the board.

There's the 180.43 beta driver version. It should be a little bit down the list in red from the link on the first post.

Also I just installed these new 180.43 drivers and I CANNOT change the fan speed on my GTX260. I thought that was the problem in 180.42

I guess it's on this one also. thats depressing. I change the fan speed all the time, for gaming, for hard gaming, for folding, for multiple instances of folding. all get different fan speeds. can't do squat without that.

Hi Folks. I'm thinking about this driver. Does anyone know whether Nvidia System Tools work with a P45 chipset?
I never had much luck with nTune and system tools look like an update on that.

There is a 180.44 that I'm downloading Now, hopefully I have fan control after that. or maybe I'll just go back to 178.xx

EVGA precision may not work on the 43s but RT allows fanspeed adjustment, im running it now....

Ya, but I hate Riva Tuner.. I LOVE eVGA Precision. and it does not work.

hopefully it will on 180.44 they just finished. I'll try those right now. and I don't like the Multi monitor support on .43's either.. sadness. they are simple. but TO simple. not enough options.

I'm to lazy to do it all over agian. So I'm now downloading the new eVGA Precision version 1.3.3 as it has fan control for the new 180.xx drivers.

also I got a great table with info about drivers and there performance in games, 3DMark06 and many other things. I'll make another thread with it. Can we sticky it?? It's great info for everyone!

It's still good info even though it's being done on a 8600M GFX card right. I didn't notice that til after I wrote the thread.. lol Oops

and yes eVGA Precision 1.3.3 works with the 180.43 driver update. I'm using them both now!

Hi Shawn and everyone. I just installed 180.48 and everything seems fine but they do seem to run my BFG 8800 GTS OC 512Mb a bit hotter than previously.
Also the fan control section in Riva Tuner has disappeared so I'm not sure how to control fan speed.
I've avoided Nvidia software since nTune screwed my whole system.
Any suggestions would be welcome, John

EVGA precision is suppost to work, and it works with any Nvidia card, not just EVGA brand.

Will most likely need to wait for a RivaTuner update before fan control comes back with that.

Ok thanks, I'll try EVGA precision. I was under the impression it was only for EVGA cards.
