v382.53 & some others are not compatible with Vista, Brink.

latest driver that has Vista support was v365.19 (32bit) (64bit)

ok after downloading many different nvidia forceware driver packs, the latest ones that retain the NTamd64.6.0 and NTx86.6.0 (Vista 32bit/64bit) sections in the nv_dispi.inf file seems to be v373.06 (32bit) (64bit); WHQL certification for Vista [aka OSAttr property of 2:6.0 listed in the nv_disp.cat signature file is there]

v375.xx & greater remove the NTamd64.6.0 and NTx86.6.0 sections in the nv_dispi.inf file but v376.xx officially removed WHQL certification for Vista

do keep the v365.19 drivers listed though - those are the last one's (according to nVidia's web site) that officially support Vista

I should mention that if you have a NVIDIA graphics card earlier than the 600 series and want hardware acceleration, then you would use v337.88 or earlier. About 3 years ago, NVIDIA disabled the use of CUDA for hardware acceleration in drivers later than v337.88 for those cards. AMD did the same thing for their legacy cards (obviously they don't have CUDA).

As pointed out in a recent MSFN post, 365.19 is "generally only the correct driver for GeForce 400 Series and above," and 342.01 is chronologically more recent than 365.19.
