Just a note, I am getting a return to the old Vista Time-out and Recovery error with these drivers. Anybody else noticed this?

these drivers WERE A PIG to install for me....

i just overlay'd it as i do with every other driver, but i lost Aero..??? i tried all the usual to get it working, but nothing.....

i then uninstalled the driver, rebooted..... & lost signal completely on restart. (it had removed the generic driver for the card so i couldn't even get 800x600..

i then had to restart & enter ''safe mode'' it was then able to re detect the card & i installed it that way...


that was the worst BETA install ever.....


but the driver is a pretty good performer....

lol, I'm not sure I like how Nvidia keeps releasing drivers for specific games. I just want a good recent overall release that will be good on all games. lol each time they do that for a game, that game and most in the list.. get better performance, but IQ gets cut.. Meh, oh well though.

well... when i say its a ''good performer'' what i mean is they are no better or worse than the 181.22s ... i have not benched them yet, but i haven't lost any noticeable FPS..


that's good enough for me.... its when you start loosing performance you need to start back tracking ....

By overlay, do you mean "just installed over the top of previous drivers"?

It's always best, afaik, to do a proper install of a new driver revision i.e. from 181 to 182.
From experience, going from a 181.xx to another 181.xx (for example) has always worked fine, but going from a 181.xx to a 182.xx has had quite a few problems for me.

I've also had a few problems with installing the last few drivers in safe mode. They'll install, but when I boot in to normal mode, it says a service failed to start and I won't have aero or anything, but installing in normal mode after driver sweeping is fine.

that was probably the problem, going from the WHQL 181 to the BETA 182s..... my machine certainly didn't like the taste of that....lol

Hi all,:D

I just installed the 182.06 drivers and, as I have done for many drivers recently, I just installed over the 182.05s

I haven't gone through the safe mode, driver sweeper etc. install method for about 6 months now-and that's a lot of drivers- and I've had no problems at all.
Lucky maybe.

After a recent Windows 7 fiasco (my fault) I had to do a Vista reinstall. Before that I was running the modded 185 drivers and I thought they were great, especially the ambient occlusion facility.
Nobody seems to mention them now, did they prove problematic?

Anyway, I'll report back when I've tested these drivers in games.

PS. Got W7 running in dual boot. Can't say I'm impressed. doesn't seem any faster or "snappier" than Vista 64 on my machine.

Got nostalgic for the 185.20s so I put them in again.

3DMark score= 12829

Plus they have ambient occlusion.

Is there something I should know?

Will the 182s be mods as well?
Does anyone have any views about drivers from Xtreme-G?

alpha is a pre-beta driver, still test drivers but not as "complete" as beta drivers.
rule of software release is as follows,
pre-alpha - internal company testing
alpha - advanced testing before tweaking
beta - mainstream testing
release candidate - pre-release
RTM/WHQL - release to marketing/windows hardware quality lab - general release.

The GTS 250 is a desktop card, it's a rebranded 9800GTX+. Though you're right as well; There are 4 new mobile GPUs with GTX 200s.
