I wonder why.. and every single time they claim they've increased performance for FPS on games.. are we loosing IQ.. I don't know.
I'm on the 182.08's and don't want to change again.. It's irritating always having to update, but I always do it.

You should still get an increase in graphics performance though, even if WEI pegs out at 5.9 in Vista.
The only thing I can think of, is that they must have had bad results with those versions or something.

Hi folks, I'm running the 185.65 drivers in W7 (7057) and they seem good. I love the ambient occlusion effect although it's quite subtle in some games ie you don't notice it.
However my WEI has gone down by 0.4 for gaming from the MS drivers provided.
I'm beginning to think these WEI scores are a bit rubbish. It would be interesting to look at the variation in scores on same spec machines as, looking at the relevant thread, it seems to vary for no apparent reason.
best wishes, John

Hope the ambient occlusion drivers for 8 series is out soon
Edit: Nevermind, they are. I was just doing a general look with keeping it set to 8800 Ultra, but did a search for 8800GTS 512s (what I have) and ambient occlusion drivers are available for the 512s :D, just nothing for the G80 cards.

So does the 182.50 that is WHQL Cert have the AO.. or no? only the other ones. I'm not a fan of BETA Nvidia drivers after my bad experience. but the increase in Crysis Warhead, FarCry2 and other games in 185.66 looks great.. so maybe I'll try that.
I'm going to try out the 185.66 right now. if all good then cool, otherwise I'm going back to 182.50

I'm guessing the .66 just fixed a few urgent bugs that were in the .50s.
It says the .66s have AO in them, not tested them myself yet. Think will have a go with them when I get back from work tomorrow. It is suppost to be a big fps killer, though. Up to 40% performance drop.

Ya, from what I've seen AO kills your FPS.
Right now 185.66 is FROZE in middle of install.. about 65% done. been this way for almost an hour now. I'm about to restart. I've never had a Nvidia install freeze. Can't be a good sign. Time to go back to 182.50..
I might try again, not sure.
