'morning all. Couldn't resist last night Skunk so I downloaded them from the Guru site and installed them over the .92. That went smoothly and I had a little bit of a mess about and they seem fine.
I tried Warmonger and that seemed really fast (but a bit boring imo) so I went into Steam and had a go at a 3rd party dev called Half life: Lost Coast.
I'd not really played this before and I get a warning that it needs a 2.9 Ghz CPU rather than my 2.4 Q6600. However it does play with everything on high at 1920x1200.
I just noticed there's a stress test in the options so I tried that. It just seems to fly you round the play area with aerial views and so on. That told me I was getting 97fps which seems ok however there's a nasty flicker on the verticals ( window frames etc) which is very distracting. There's probably a name for the flicker.
Problem is I don't know whether it was present before as I never ran this stress test before and have only looked at the game once before.
Anyway, that aside they look good. I tried Bioshock and that looked fantastic and ran very smoothly.
After about an hour Riva tuner told me my core temps were 77c. I've been running for about 20 minutes now just browsing and typing this and it's 62c. Is this hot?
Got to go to work now and have only had 4 hours sleep so look and feel like something from The Zone. Oh well. Talk to you later, John
