1GB 9800 GT...... I apologise..I forgot to add it to my sig...thanks for the replies, I wasnt sure which download link to follow, I saw the one for the 177.83 from Nzone or the NV official one for the 177.79. Or the CUDA drivers? Besides playing a few games.. I do alot of modeling and animation in Maya as a hobby, really good drivers to fit this machine with a single GPU would be great.

Can I have your Q9550. I will give you my Q6700 thats 2.67 lol It's only 3 months old.

You should just get the 177.79. they are the last "Official" drivers for your card. the more recent ones are more directed to the GTX200 series cards like mine.

Hi Gunther. My 8800GTS, a generation before Blaydrnnnr's, is running better than it's ever run on the 177.83s.
In fact I'm now on the 177.84s and it's looking great. Seems faster and smoother in games.
My info was that the 177.83s were aimed at bringing PhysX to the 8 and 9 series.
Best wishes, John:)

The .83 gave me point increase in Mark06, but I'm getting Driver Failure during games and that it's Recovered.. only happened twice though. and I didn't need a reboot to keep playing.

Either way I'm changin out..

Wait brink, you did not uninstall old before installing new.. I thought that wasn't safe. I thought your supposed to download new, Uninstall old. restart, install new.

I'm going to try those .92 and see how they work. Whats the best and safest way to install them. didn't know you could install over old ones.

Also since these drivers have Physx installed already.. should I uninstall the old Physx install?

I've been installing every update that way. I just upgrade. The only time I go through that process is when I have a problem, then I will uninstall the drivers, run driver cleaner pro or whatever other program that serves the same purpose, and install the new drivers.

Gunther,

Uninstalling the old drivers first, then installing the newest version is the safest way, but most drivers today will uninstall the old one for you automatically while you are installing the new versions.

The 177.92 version does include PhysX for the 8, 9, and 200 series only. The 6 & 7 series will not have PhysX included with the installation of this version, and will only have the normal video drivers.

ok, well I uninstalled Physx v8.08 or whatever, and I uninstalled Drivers 177.83

installed Drivers 177.92 and my 3DMark06 Score Dropped by a little more than 400 points. not sure what thats about. I will try one more run at it. See what happens. thats not cool.

Maybe it's cuz Physx is gone, do I need to Enable them in the new drivers.?

edit* I tried again and I got a score of 16,648 with 177.92

So score went from 177.41 at 16,100 to 177.92 score of 16,650. so a good 500 or so increase. not sure why that first test was soo low. Hm. with that increase and an OC on CPU. I should be able to maybe break 18k. :):) We will see.

Just been reading the driver notes for .92 and these improvements look quite nice:

Single GPU increases up to 11% in 3DMark Vantage (performance preset)
Single GPU increases up to 11% in Assassin's Creed DX10
Single GPU increases up to 15% in Bioshock DX10
Single GPU increases up to 15% in Call of Duty 4
Single GPU increases up to 8% in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
2-way SLI increases up to 7% in Bioshock DX10
2-way SLI increases up to 10% in Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts DX10
2-way SLI increases up to 12% in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
2-way SLI increases up to 10% in World in Conflict DX10

Hope they're out soon (as I don't really go for beta drivers). I'm having problems in Second Life with .84, but I'm not rolling back as every other game I play runs really well with .84.

Well those Percentages are based on the 175.19 drivers, to the current drivers. or something of that sort. not just from 177.41 to .92. but a bigger range than that. so it's probably much smaller, as if you've been keeping up, they've slowly been getting better. lol.

oh and Blay, you'd be able to OC that Quad pretty decently well. I've been at 3.66 GHz plenty. but being a HP, they lock everything in the BIOS, limited any chance for that stuff.

In my sig there is my newest OC with the GPU, and the CPU. I didn't go to 3.66 GHz on the CPU like usual. Just left it at 3.63 GHz and ran the benchmark. I didn't wanna give it to many volts.

Here's the link also. It's my latest 3DMark06 score with my GTX260 and the new 177.92 drivers over the old ones.

Thanks for all the help Brink.. it's nice to always know you'll be here to answer my driver questions. gave you love.

I didn't install over old ones. but I did do it normal way, and they are working great. if you didn't see my Mark06 score above. 200 points more. with a smaller oc. got a higher score with these drivers at 3.620 than I did with old ones at 3.66 GHz.

Pretty cool. one question tho. I know the Physx is included in these drivers. Do they just work, or do I need to Enable them?
