Well, while testing my KB_Extractor, I had to extract a lot of service packs under different conditions, while deleting the temp files at the same time, etc. etc. etc. To cut a long story short, I created and deleted 136GB of files over three days, and my perfectly optimized and defragmented hard disk is now completely shattered! This is why my hard disks don't last as long as some people's! Just running Auslogics again, just five days after last time!

On another note, I did my indoor ice climbing today, and it was so, so fantastic!

Today, I worked, if ya wanna call it that. Wasn't much to do, so I re-wrote and updated some procedures for work and printed them so others will know what they're doing while i'm gone.

Other than that, I came home and took the plunge......SP1 for Win 7. So far, so good. No real noticeable difference.

    Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
Bother! A circuit board of mind which I have been making in technology just went up in a strong smell and quite a lot of smoke after I accidentally touched together two leads while testing it. And now it doesn't work anymore :cry:

Hmmmm. Have just been inspecting it. It is a tiny PCB, with component legs sitting on top rather than going through. Two transistors have definitely gone, and are chained, so I reckon than another two down the chain will also have gone with less visible signs, with the power surge weakening down the chain. The main IC may or may not be dead. The circuit board is a bit damaged around one edge. No fixing that. I shall have to get it re-machined. It was always a machined PCB anyway. It is too small to solder components onto, or take them off to replace them. Still, first time it has happened.

One of many problems at the time, Josh! But thank you for remembering. Everyone here really helped give me the confidence to work more with (& learn how to maintain) my computer. Although I venture far, I have been trying.

So long as I have your ear...the Flush.bat file...what exactly does that do? I have been using Old Timer to clear temp files and have been thinking about if I should be using the Flush.bat also? It was not until this thread you referenced, that I realized the 'dialogue' in the file could be different...as you remember using a file other than the one you posted, I had lost my IP. Again, I don't understand all of this - I just know after all the cleaning and flushing, my computer was running like a champ!

Yeah - If my Internet Drops and I have trouble Connecting that file is the First thing I run and 75% Of the time it works
