Today [2]

So, since this is the 'Today' thread I will share the following:

I am currently procrastinating...yesterday was the Shuttle Launch which I can see from my backyard (we are about 60 miles north of the launch). In my infinite wisdom, I though I should go quickly get my camera (& I mean quickly - this all happens so fast!). Dropped it on the tile floor...ouch! I use the camera everyday as much as I use the computer. So I checked the lens and it does not appear damaged (although I was a little shaky taking the photo). The door that holds the batteries in place, broke...I am hoping I can repair that today!!

Shuttle launches have not been kind to me. Went to the launch pad a few years back and dropped my prescription sunglasses in the 'drink' (trying to adjust my camera!) LMAO...hows that for irony!

You're so lucky having that so close to you. Me and my dad went to Cape Canaveral about 10 years ago hoping to see the launch, but there were technical problems which delayed it so we missed out :(

Unlucky about your camera, I take it you didn't get any shots in the end then?

Bother! A circuit board of mind which I have been making in technology just went up in a strong smell and quite a lot of smoke after I accidentally touched together two leads while testing it. And now it doesn't work anymore

Here you go mate ,have some more.

Hey Tom -

Yes, actually I do feel fortunate in that respect even though we don't get there all that often since we have moved here. I have seen a couple of the years and it is a rather awesome sight (and sensation). I am sorry you didn't get to see a launch while visiting...unfortunately, delays happen often. This launch was actually delayed since November and then I was so excited because I was right there in town on business and then really bummed out because it did not launch. Yesterday, it was a real nail biter as the Air Force had a computer problem :sarc: (it is their system that monitors the launch through entrance into the atmosphere). They actually started the countdown clock as usual (9 minutes) and hoped the Air Force would come through. There is a short window and they shutdown the clock at 5 minutes to launch (for a max of five minutes) and right at the deadline systems were go! It is hard for me to believe they could be so confident that computer would not go down again!!:)

So no, I didn't get any photos yesterday - but I might have a couple others, if I find them - I'll post!

Yes and its hardly surprising when you consider the scale of the space shuttle program, it may be the end of Discovery but at least there'll be a few more flights that we can see :)

That would be brilliant, thank you :)

Today...got up early, went shopping and got my dads b-day present and set it up for him this morning( 42" HD TV).
Then got a 32" HDTV hung in my bedroom at home, so my mom could have my 22"HDTV in their bedroom. Now i'm tired, and it's only 7pm. :(

As the pic says, 2 weeks since I last came on here!

I need to do some catching up, and that new sig!! Lol
So, why havn't I been very active?
Weelll, I've been concentrating alot on Andromada and Bitvortex. I've also been revising for exams and stuff...

But, good news!!
I now have another new server at my house!
Before we had only a HP DL350 G4, real nice server.
But now we have a HP ML360 G3, again really nice server, dual, dual core Xeon cpu's @ 2.80GHz, 1GB ram, 2 36.4GB drives in Raid 1.
The DL is used as a file server, the ML is going to be used as my GTA SA:MP test server.
There is a chance I might be able to get another 3, maybe even 4 of the ML servers...
But until then, I need to get some proper power and Ethernet cables out there..

Also just noticed that I realllyyy need a hair cut lol.

Hey Tom - This morning the news showed a personal video a tourist took from a plane showing the launch and thought you would like to see it. As all would go, I could not locate that specific video (maybe in a couple days it will be posted). I did find the following slide show from the same news station and I thought you might like it. Enjoy!

Thanks, it's such a phenomenal sight, hopefully one day I will be able to experience it.

You're so luck to have it right next to you, did you see the columbia or the challenger disasters?

Lol, ty richc46 :)
And Niemiro, not sure, I changed the resolution in a game to one higher than my actual screen res, and restarted the game, and bam, dodgy colours.
It could be a number of things, the fan on the card could have got stuck and overheated as I was changing some cable management in the case earlier, maybe it came loose from the PCI slot since I run it without a bracket as it's a small form-factor that didn't come with a full hight PCI bracket.
I'm gunna take it apart in a while and see what is happening.
I booted to XP and everything looked fine, so maybe it's broke the driver or something, I don't even know if that's possible lmao :p
I haven't turned the PC on since, and if the graphics card is dead, I haven't got a spare, so yeah, and my screen is DVI and my card on-board is VGA.
As a replacement though, I'd happily accept an Asus Ares or an Asus Mars II :p

Also, have just about given up with my school, they are actually useless. No wonder since the school is closing though.

EDIT--
Y'no when you feel really, really stupid?
Yeah.
Video card is fixed, colour setting was set for 8bit instead of 32bit. Lmao
