Today [2]

Today I have been reading about IBM's super computer.
It took 25 scientists 4 years to make and has 15TB of ram.
It still said Toronto was an American city

Noo idea, they could have at least strung together a few letters and numbers to make something that sounds vaguely like an intelligent computer name :)

The only Watson I know of is Emma Watson, but somehow not thinking that that is the real reason behind this! lol

Trip to school took ages and ages and ages. The train caught fire. We have had a lot of train delays over the years, with a derailment of an empty train in a shunting yard at 3AM, a tree falling across a whole load of stock, more suicides than I care to remember (not a very happy region) and an engine which caught fire.

Today was a lot less serious. I saw no sign of the fire. Evidently one of the many extinguishers dealt with it competently, but it still delayed me!

Talking of doctors, my doc put my on some new pills today and it's like being stoned all the time, It may settle down so I should just enjoy it while it lasts.

Just curious, but the last time you said he upped the dosase of morphine. I'm trying to thing of where you go from there, and all I can come up with is heroin. Although illegal in America, some other countries permit it - is New Zealand one of therm? If it's not too personal, what's the name of the medication and what's the dosage (I worked in a hospital for 7 years during high school and college and have a fairly good knowledge of medication for a non-professional and I'm now curious)?

And like all others you've been on (you obviously know the drill), you will develop a tolerance over time and it won't feel so good any more - but when it first hits, it'll still pack some kick (just not as much and just not last as long).

No mate the morphine was not working, all I did was vomit.
I think they are starting to run out of things to try.
I've had a headache for almost 3 years now, every day all day and night and it gets on top of me every now and then but most of the time I can control it enough to function almost normally. That twinkle in my eye is still there most days;)

Excellent! Half term! In my usual maths way, I managed to complete my four hours of maths past papers in one and a half hours, and am quite confident in a good mark, although these are just practices and the marks don't matter as long as the mock (to a certain extent) and real one are good.

Other than that, I need to do some programming, and perform some maintenance on my MD5 database. It wasn't actually created by me (Azarl) but for my work it needs maintenance by me. It currently contains 156,233 records. Not bad.

I am also going indoor ice climbing on Tuesday!! I am going with my old partner (I now have have a new trainee - although trainee is not quite the right word, she is pretty good! She won't ever make it to the nationals, but she has a good chance of getting into the county championships if she keeps climbing as she does now. I just take her climbing, show her various techniques, take her outdoors, etc. etc. I spent three solid weeks choosing my trainee. She wasn't the best climber grade wise, but there was something there. She was only 11 at the time, yet climbing more gracefully that any of the others. In the end, I did choose her, and it was the best decision ever. She is now 13, and amazing. She is far, far better than any of those others now, with a lot of natural talent which wasn't being used properly. Really pleased about choosing her.)

Also, I need to spend some time talking to my counsellor. I don't really know why. I haven't been like this for ages, but I am just spending four or five hours a day dwelling on the past, and that past seems so much scarier and more real at night. Those memories should never be forgotten, but neither should they be coming back to ruin my life now. Those great people worked miracles when I needed help most. Maybe they can do it again...

You sound just like me :) But unfortunately, that means that you will also have to endure the long time period between finishing the exam and the time finishing. For my GCSE maths paper, I had an hour to kill :(

lol. It is just ridiculous. IGCSE Higher Tier, and there is absolutely nothing to it. The simplicity is astounding! However at the moment I would manage to waste that hour, as I have done so in lessons, in bed, on the train, while supposedly doing homework. It was amazing how nobody let on/even noticed.

0800 1111. A magical phone number for once you have admitted to yourself that there is a problem. After that, they sort it out (with the police if necessary) and life becomes better.

Excellent news came in the post this morning!

My brother got into his school! It is a very hard school to get into, with a really, really good record. It is where I go. It will be absolutely fantastic for him. He has always been far more than clever enough to get in, but many require tutoring to get in. Without proper parents to tutor or push him, and with me being a less than an ideal brother, he pulled together, and worked as hard as he could off his own back. I was of course encouraging and helping him with what I could, and he was always perfectly capable, but it is just so fantastic that he has been recognised in this way. He could have sat back, but instead he worked as hard as he possibly could for two and a half months. I am really, really glad that it didn't all go to waste on those who didn't recognise that he had worked the hardest of all.

Some kind of flu/cold is going around, and I finally caught a bit of it. It's not really bad though. Started out as a sore, scratchy throat, and after 2 days, now my throat doesn't hurt, it's just dry and rough. A bit of a cough off and on, and feeling a tad wore out from not being able to sleep good means i'll spend a lot of the weekend on the couch, dozing off when I can, watching some racing, and checking in with the laptop every now and then.

I'm fighting with a cold bug myself, I don't like that cloudy head feeling.

I hope it's on it's way out now, seems to hang around longer the older I get though.
