johngalt.. what do you have?? what quad core, and what cooler.. that it's idle at 30 C.. mine is 37 or so.. and now it's OC'd it's like almost 50 and thats only to 3.3 on a Q6700.. they seem a lil high to me. but then again the side panel is off.. so the intake fan right there is not running.. and the bottom mounted input fan is not there either.. so only 1 place is input.. and I have 3 output. so airflow might not be that great.. but my temps should be a lil better with the Tuniq i'd think.

and yes I'm finally done amplid.. Thank you.. I'm pretty exited about it. going to transfer all my stuff over tonight.

this was my first build also, if you've changed a few parts before.. thats all you need to kno.. cuz it's pretty simple. computers are not nearly as delicate or as complex as people think.. you'll be good!

My computer just got vista x64 installed today. Everything worked out great!

Only ran into one problem though...my bluetooth keyboard and mouse won't stay synced up :\

Anyways, once I get my PC onto my desk and everything wired up nice and neat I'll camera-whore a few more picture for you guys ^^

I've overclocked it from 2.40GHz to 3.04GHz so far....not bad I'd say. She runs (at full 100% load after 6 hours) at 54-58 degrees C... That's not bad right?

well.. on a Q6600 with an OC of 600MHz thats probably an ok temp. considering you have a Artic 7 cooler.. they are decent, not the best tho, well thats load right..

Whats ur temps on Idle.. ??

I have a Q6700, I'm still messing with my temps, and my Fans, I have the cooler's onboard fan set to 40 percent. so it could be much more productive. but for now the Q6700 is 2.66 and I OC'd it to 3.33GHz with the CPU cooler fan still at 40% and my temps are about 47 on idle.. not sure about load.. but I still need to mess with fan speeds and find what I like, I have it at 40% so it's not to loud.. and when I game I'll be sure to CRANK it up to keep Her cool..

but not bad.. whats ur volts set at on that OC Xen

My Q6600 is idling at 45-50C. Full peak is 55-60C after being loaded 100% for over 6 hours.

I didn't tweak much on the voltages..just enough to bring it up to over 3.00GHz.. I'll probably keep going today and see how far I can get her to go.. I'm thinking I'll probably stop at 3.30GHz.

I guess thats pretty decent.. now that I added all my Fans I'm doin ok. I actually have a really good Mobo for OC'n stuff.. the eVGA 750i. has some good features.. like a Auto Voltage option. so I just set my FSB to 1333 (Only for my board, don't try same) and set the Voltage to Auto, and the RAM to unlinked, and left the RAM timings at Default.. and without even adjusting my Voltage my board on Auto sets the oc from 2.66 to 3.33GHz all stable and on it's own, I just have it set to always be on that, so when I turn it on. It's already runnin 3.33. actually worked pretty well. I'm thinkin I'll mess around and move it up to 3.6 or 3.8 and see how hot it gets.. otherwise I'm leavin it at it's current OC to 3.33GHz cuz for it to be there, stable, and without me personally adjusting the Voltage.. thats pretty good.

you should be able to get yours to 3.4 pretty decently.. let me kno how it goes...

I have my FSB set to 1350 (I'm using 780i...so we're kind of in the same boat as far as our boards' OC'ing abilities go..) and the voltages are set to auto as well for me. I'm linked and sync'd however unlike you... I was just told by a friend to do it this way with my RAM set to default as well. But yeah, when I boot I am running at 3.04...I haven't tried going past that quite yet (mainly because I haven't had time to fiddle with it much..). Do you think that having my FSB set to 1350 that it may be a little high? I've run prime95 for 7 hours and my temps never went over 60 degrees C and my system stayed running.. I assumed that meant it was fine at that setting. I'm not sure though because I'm new to overclocking...I'm just testing things little by little..

Hopefully tomorrow I'll hit 3.20GHz... I'm not sure what else to do to get it there though...the only thing I know to do is raise the FSB up more and I'm afraid to do that :S, or is that the only way? Any advice is welcomed..

I really like this mouse, I have used the track ball for a number of years, but I had to buy this new one because the old ones did not work with Vista (despite using pc's for a long time, I still do not know much due to a brain injury along with the quadraplegia). The only thing a do not quite like as much with this new one is, that the ball is slighty smaller than the ones with the older version. The old one was the size of a snooker ball. I am sure that anyone who get once used to using a track ball mouse will not want to revert to the regular mouse.

Ya that system sounds a bit like my old one before this build. I had the AMD x2 5400+ 2.8 and it was pretty much a darn good system.

Xen, Hm. ya I didn't realize you had the 780i. thats a lil better than mine, I'm not sure about it's OC'n ability. I'm sure its pretty good. I kno the 750i was build After the 780i was.. so i don't kno. what brand is yours, I got eVGA and it's the FTW model.. For The Win..
I think the reason I'm able to hit a higher OC easier than you is due to the fact that I have the Q6700 with one more multiplier than you. so it's easily getting there.. cuz like I said, my fsb is at 1333 and I'm stable at 3.33Ghz

Here's a screeny. Click the Image to make the picture bigger.. and my desktop is pretty plain with a lame picture as I just finished build and I don't have my stuff from old PC moved over yet.. going to do that tonight.

That's not bad at all my friend. and yeah, I was wondering how come you were OC'ing more than me at 3.33GHz when I had my FSB higher than you lol....I didn't realize you had the q6700...

I'll try upping my FSB a little more tomorrow...my goal is 3.20GHz.. Once I get that stable I'll probably quit and leave it there..
