Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems (works on 64bit o/s - only recognizes 32 bit installed apps. - which is pretty much everything - I use it all the time on Vista x64 )

Strangely, my computer now takes almost twice as long to boot up, even though I have changed nothing in the past few days.

It went from 60 seconds to 112 seconds.



I have no idea why.

Does anyone know how this can happen?

That's about where I'm at. Got it down to 91 seconds. Do you have Raid 0 by any chance? I'm wondering if that's the slow booter. My 32 bit Vista machine boots in about 67 seconds. The HD is Sata II.

Nope, just running off a single SATA HDD. And with that in mind, I've actually gotten it down to 89 seconds. I'm running out of startup processes to kill... Oh, and can anybody explain why even after disabling TMM I get a useless black screen after the boot screen and before the login screen? I have a feeling thats where alot of my time is going.

I get that black screen hang time too. I never noticed it on any other version of Windows. It makes me paranoid.

@Arc Angel XVI have you found anything else out? I tried disabling Aero by switching to classic theme. Nothing seems to cut down the boot time. What video card do you have? My 32 bit Vista machine with Aero enabled shows a bootspeed of 67 seconds. That PC only has 2 GB ram. So I'm wondering is it video, ram, usb initialization is different? There must be some common factor.

I think one of the hangups may be trying to load anti-virus driver when the anti-virus software has been uninstalled. Plus it seems to want to load a driver
that was successfully loaded on the previous line. Strange!

Faster Laptop Boot times, works for me.
I found enabling WLAN autoconfig service and disabling third party WLan service in my case the dell wlan tray service, helped cut boot time by ten seconds. Some other background services I set to delayed start like windows search, windows error reporting, background intelligence transer service and ktmRm for distributed....., pretty much all the others are default.
My reboot time is 60 seconds as per the vb script file. 2.4c2duo, 160gb 7200rpm, 4gb. vista ult.x64.
Hope this works as it did for me.

Aw, beat me by 9 seconds. Just did a factory re-image and registry clean and my new all time low is 85 seconds.

Oh, and can anybody tell me what size their registry is or what the average? Because according to my backup, my registry is 100+ mb? Right after doing a reformat?
