Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Hmm i need some help with these drivers..
well im using headphones all the time and for some reason the driver didnt detects that im plugged in a headphone at the back panel and the option to plug it at reat is impossible.
If there is a way that the driver detect's that im plugged in a headphone and not just a front speaker.

there should be an option for this if you double click your input when you plug your headphones into the front panel, double click the green front panel jack in the realtek audio manager and select headphones VVVV

MrNeeds,i know that i can connect the headphones to the front panel but my computer case has a front door that for some reason hiding the audio connect's either and when the headphones connect to there is just looks ugly.
I just want's to know if there is a way to connect headphones at the back of the panel and that the computer will know that it's a headphones and not a speakers.

Ok, here is my problem.

I have the latest greatest driver installed using the method everyone mentions. First time through it uninstalls, second time it installs. I see the program just fine but I get no audio input or output.

I see no errors anywhere but when i plug in the speakers to the back panel in the green connector it shows up in the realtek manager as having both blue and pink connected (but not green!). Same with other inputs, it doesn't show that its connected to the one it is, but to one or two different ports. They all do something a little different but none are giving me speaker out even if I set it to front speaker for that port.

The front panel ports register properly but still do not give sound or work with the mic.

Does this make sense? What can cause this? I'm beginning to think it may be hardware failure but wanted to ask around to see if anyone had ideas before i give up and throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Am I to believe and understand that the R 2.19 is also for those of us with Azalia HD Onboard Audio boards?

Aside from how slow the site is, they are not very user friendly when it comes to information, that or I am just to thick headed

sorry about the long wait for a reply, yes you can, why didnt you try it in the first place? when i double click the green jack on the back panel, it comes up with the same options on the front panel, need a long headphone cable though.

Do I need to download the Realtek HD Audio Manager separately? I got the R2.19 but it didn't come with it and now, only my 2 front speaker have sound, the others don't.

I remember having that option (HD audio Manager) with my old 680i board but not so with the new 780i FTW board.

I did installed the drivers that came on the EVGA CD and yesterday, I upgraded to the R 2.19. Did I installed this wrong? is there such a thing?

Hello AstaLaVista,

You may need to install the drivers one more time and restart. The first time only removes the old drivers, while the second time actually installs the newer 2.19 driver version with the HD Audio Manager.

Hi AstaLaVista,

The Realtek HD Audio Manager is installed together with the driver. Look at the system tray. Do you see this highlighted icon? Note that this image is from W7, but the icon in Vista is identical.


In addition, if you follow the instructions here http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html you will only need to install the drivers once. This is the method that I use.

Correct. Double check in Device Manager to see if you have the 6.0.1.5809 driver version number to be sure it is installed.

Well, that didn't go so well. I checked on the Device Manager and I had, infact, installed the 6.0.1.5809 driver version of 3/18/09.

Doing a Run as Administrator to install over it brought me to a option that told me that:

1.- the wizard needed to uninstall the installed version and then Reboot

2.- After rebooting, do the installation again.

I did that and I still don't have the Audio Manager installed.

The 780i FTW board I have now says that comes with the Azalia HD audio. I know that Realtek makes it also but, am I installing the wrong drivers? I don't think this is so because the R2.19 are the only x64 drivers I see on their site.

This is very frustating to say the least... I'll keep on googling until you guys can help me sort this out.

All this little bugs with the new system are sure taking the fun out owning/building a so called new & improved rig!

P.S.: I don't don't mean to sound like an Ingrate. Ever since my upgrade to Vista, you guys have been more than helpful with all my issues and problems and I truly appreciate it.


P.P.S.: OK, I don't know what did the trick here, I uninstalled the CCCP codec pack I had installed and installed a fresh copy of K-Lite Mega codec pack but after rebooting, I still didn't have the Audio manager working.

Reading on another thread, I went to the back of the pc and Unplugged and replugged the audio wires back on and Viola... Audio manager appeared.

Not so good news is that I still can't get my 5.1 Logitech speakers working, only the two fronts do.

Hi, I just installed vista after a clean format. I downloaded the newest drivers I could find from my motherboards website I have "gygabite ga-965p-ds3" and had some problems with the sound. I finally got my 5.1 surround working good and sounding nice, but my headphones sound terrible. Under "Speaker Configuration" I have no option for selecting Headphones like I could on XP. I can't use my front jacks so I plug my headphones in to the back jacks. When I plug them in I get the popup and I select headphones.

So to play on my headphones I have to switch off my speakers otherwise sound comes out of both the speakers and the headphones. The sound from the speakers is perfect but from the headphones it just sounds terrible, there is no bass and its just very dull. On xp it sounded great. Is there some way to fix this? should there be a pop down menu from "speaker config" to select headphones?

One thing maybe i should've said, I had the onboard sound turned off in bios and was using a soundcard but it didn't run so well with vista so I switched back to the onboard sound. I uninstalled my old card enabled the onboard through bios and installed drivers so I assume I did everything ok.

I seem to be having trouble installing. I run the program to uninstall restart then try to install but when i restart the pc Vista starts automaticley installing drivers without asking me anything and i can't seem to stop it. Then when the realtek drivers install from the program it doesnt actually work. I click test to test the speakers and its all sounding good and nice but when i play music from anything else it sounds dull and none of the settings in the audio manager affect anything. Like if i increase the bass or change the sound to "dome" or "arena" i know they suck and are useless but it's showing me that the driver and the audio manager aren't working or doing anything.

Is there a way of stoping vista automaticley installing these crappy drivers it thinks are the best? I've disabled automaticley install drivers in the system hardware window but that seems to have no affect at all.
