Strange that you only scored a 5.7 on CPU when I see you have "Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz (E8400)". I would have assumed (yes I know) that you would get better through-put on this processor. Great scores otherwise. I'm thinking about upgrading my cards to a set of 9800's although a 5.6 with my current dual 8600GT"s in SLI isn't bad either.

I have the same processor and the same exact scores as lukas...I was thinking it would have been higher as well. Perhaps they rate quad core higher but I feel in real life for most of my apps the dual core 3.0 is a better processor for me than say a 2.66 quad...
Does anyone else find the score for these processors a little low? Seems odd that 2 GB of RAM is somehow less limiting than a 3GHz dual-core.
Also, are most of you using RAID to get higher HD scores?
No raid in my system "250GB 7200 RPM SATA II" (windows experience 5.9). I use WHS for recovery so raid not needed. However...in my experience (database admin) I have found raid to be slower overall on servers and pc's unless it is fiber connected and at least 10K rpm or more.
I agree with you that there is something weird about the experience scores related to dual core processors. I run a Q6600 quad oc'd to 3.0 GHz and get an experience of 5.9 where I have seen others with a dual core 8400 at 3.0 GHz who only get an experience of 5.7. It looks to me as if quads get more weight than duals although I'm not sure about the level II and Level III cashing on the dual cores as I have not checked it out.

Yep I am running a Tyan Tempest S5397 Board that can take 128gig maximum but that much memory would blow my budget. I use 16 DDR2/800 4gig sticks and that lot set me back $4800. The only problems have been HEAT as the memory runs at 60 - 99C and I had to put in an 8" fan to keep it under control. The system is used for handling large TIFF files of 1-2 gig in size.
I was sceptical with Vista64bit but have had to eat my words. It is stable and very fast when you give it heaps of memory to play with. Best decision i ever made

Are you the replacement for SCSIraidGURU?
I have used raid 1 and raid 5 for 6 years now and with the price of disks falling it makes sense to use it in smaller home systems. My large server runs a HP Modular Smart Array which has been the most flexible disk array system I have ever used. It allows a mix of SCSI and SATA that can be set up in any mix of raid levels that can be expanded like a dynamic disk. I still do Tape Backups but have the added security of hardware redundancy
