IE is slow, even with a good RAM. Stick with Firefox, faster and you can customize it.

Im a firefox user and love it, i have though been having a few problems with pages loading since updating to 3.6.3 and even if i downgrade the problem remains so im holding out for 4.0 in hoping that this will fix the bug i seem to be stuck with.... iv tried every solution out there but nothing makes a permanent fix, but as long as i have my trusty Adblock add-on im happy :D

Edit: i seem to have found a permanent fix by accident!! under Ccleaner i checked Old Prefetch Data ans run clean up and now firefox is running 100% again :D

Whats wrong with IE? let me count the ways...
SLOW, Jam Packed with useless ads, Horrible Skins, Commercialized for every occasion, Constant interface changes without consent, did I mention SLOW, constantly changing page feeds, content selections are poor at best and only if they dont change 30 days after selecting one. Grandma likes it for bingo, did I mention the windows 3.1 look and feel? An ok first browser that falls short in so many ways.

After Opera there really is no going back again:D

I had to go from SRWare Iron to Chrome. Just too many 3rd party utilities won't work because Iron keeps it's profile in a different spot. I'm running Chrome 5 beta and it rocks!! I have to use 2 different extensions to do what SyncPlaces did in Firefox but it's worth it for the speed and fast load off the HD. LastPass solved the problem of more than one login on the same web site.

Ok, I have taken the plunge.
I still use Opera as my main, but have started using (cringes) IE8 as my backup over FF.
Not sure why, but I have not liked FF since the 2.X days. It just seems too....bloated or something, although IE8 isn't much better.

It's not as if I NEED to use it much, once in a blue moon maybe.

Have you ever tried MaxThon? If you are going to use IE engine, MaxThon is a lot more fun. At least it was when I used it. I haven't used it in a couple of years since I got set up with a bunch of FF AddOns, and now chrome. But it does have some fun doodads you can add to it. Not as stodgy as plain IE. Lost of user-written AddOns.

Actually, no. It never really crossed my mind. I've heard of it but know nothing about it. I'd be willing to try it though, it can't hurt. thanks for the idea. :)

Ok, tried it. It's pretty, but not my thing. I didn't try an older version, which may have been better. I'll keep looking. Like I said though, I never really have a dire need, I just like to have a backup browser.

I haven't checked it out in awhile. But trying MaxThon without playing with any of the extensions is like running Firefox out of the box. It's the add ons that make the difference.

I have just been trying Comodo Dragon, which appears to be a re skinned Google chrome with a lot of added Security.

The only downfalls i can find between Dragon & Chrome is you have to update manually & it is not recognized by Ccleaner where as Chrome is.
