Sassofalco, we call ourselves Maineiacs and proud of it. I spent 18 months in Florida and the thing about that is I can put more clothes on and be warm even in sub-zero weather, but they'll only let me take so much off and then they want to lock me up. Just can't take the heat. Makes my brain go even more haywire than it already is.

At the moment it is 27f here (-3C) and it is 7.30pm so cannot wait for the morning when it is even colder.

Isn't 33°F and snowing just a tad harsh for New Orleans? It must be this 'Global Warming' thing........all those carbon emissions from the wood-stoves in Maine-iac County. By the way, do you have a 'wet-back' system [circulating water heating] operating through your woodstove?

Hey Gary, bit off thread, but to explain....

A 'wet-back' is a water heating system where the cold or cooler water is piped and circulated via a thermosiphon effect, through the Fire-box to heat it up, and then cycle it back to the main hot water storage cylinder, usually an electrically heated unit.
In winter the wet-back often supercedes the need to electrically heat the water, and some systems also incorporate the use of solar panels which do the same thing for days when solar energy can be harnessed. Here's a basic set-up from New Zealand. Wetback
