what is required? SLI?

Please see: Is Your PC "Optimized for NVIDIA?" for more info on SLI certified parts (Not required but recommended - less potential troubles).

You could run multiple monitors in sli with screen spitters on each which would give you 4 monitors wide, however if you run dual 24" or larger monitors wouldn't that give you enough desktop?

ok here's mine...it's a total dream to work on...i'm very proud of all the work i did to make it a clean build...i slaved over every last wire so there wouldn't be an inch of excess anywhere...i was concerned about better cooling for the 2 hard drives that are seated above the 6 that are bookended in the removable drive cage on the lower right, but finding nothing online i was satisfied with, i ended up designing my own cooling solution with 2 small fans that i placed in such a way that they blow upwards directly onto the circuit boards on the undersides of the drives at about 6300 rpms...as for the cooling system i've chosen is very modest- just two good heat sinks and two 4 wire fans that are monitored and rpms speed adjusted by the motherboard as temps warrant, and even at full load, they hold the temps down to 45 C which is just as good as mineral oil cooling....as you can see, one of these pictures shows my 2 NEC 24" digital monitors, but monitor number 3 is behind me (my samsung 46" LCD flat screen TV) which i can watch hi def movies on, and have 2 full desktops to do whatever i want with during that time...when i turn my machine on, it's like an airplane taking off...the best part is- while the board is posting, it completes the memory test, and then turns on the SAS and SATA drive controllers, and the spin up sounds sooo cool :)

this is a message to bray:way also--the desk was bought at target and is their store brand. (then i looked at your post again and noted that you're not in the states... i don't know if you got target stores where you are, but that's where i got it from $70)

as far as the 3 monitor setup in the photo, one graphics card and onboard video. the particular board i had at that time, asus m2a-vm, has a feature called surround view. if you have an ati discrete videocard, then you can use the headers on the card and the integrated video also. i was using 1 radeon hd 4870. i had the two 19" monitors on the radeon and the 20 inch on the integrated video. i could set aside up to 512mb for the integrated video in bios.

the setup i have now, gigabyte ga-ma790x-ud4p, does not have integrated video, but i do have crossfire x enabled, so i can still use the three monitor set up.

The link above is of two pics of the parts of the 'Dragon' platform PC I'm soon to be building, but I'm still waiting on two vital components, (among others) namely the CPU h/sink and the PSU. I've had all this gear in the room beside me for the past two weeks and it's killing me NOT to be putting it all together and tweaking it.
I'll post the final product as soon as it's finished.
Here's the full spec:

Monitor ~ ASUS VK246H 24" TFT
Proc. ~ AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
H/sink ~ Coooler Master V8 Fan Heatsink
MoBo ~ Sapphire PURE CrossFireX 790GX AM2+
GPU ~ Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 2GB
RAM ~ Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC6400 (8GB)
PSU ~ OCZ GameXStream 700W ATX/EPS
HDD ~ 2 X Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA2
DVD ~ Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 216
Case ~ Antec Nine Hundred Advanced Gaming Case
OS ~ Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit
Control ~ AEROCOOL FP-01 Multifunction control panel

very nice :) this i wanna see :)

Final pics of my new Dragon Rig. Gave up waiting on Komplett to deliver the PSU, so just went out and bought one directly. It's not the OCZ GameXStream I wanted, as the LED fan would have added to the effect, but what the hell,it works perfectly and I had absolutely NO problems with any of the construction or initialisation. Still waiting to hear back from them.Off to play some games now...

Thanks...You'd certainly have the space for 2 x 4890's. I've seen alot of people giving out about their inability to do proper cable management in the Antec 900, but it is what you make it...and I will admit, the hardest part of putting it together, was getting the side panel behind the mobo back on after I'd finished tieing all the cables down (had to place the cover over the side with the excess cables, and then lay it flat overnight to let the sheer weight press the cabling flat...but it worked) And after all the moaning I used to do giving out about Vista(32bit version), I have to say that I was well impressed and still am with the 64bit Ultimate version...It's true when it comes to computers, you get what you pay for...

as you can see generic case, but it keeps the system cool so who cares plus it is in my living room with the 32" sony lcd, WII, and DVD player. so i cant really have all the extra lights inside showing.

but it sure is nice having it in the living room for gaming purposes when the kids are awake.

Pic below of my main system. It's essentially the Extreme COS system that I build/sell, but with a different monitor since I wasn't worried about BluRay playback compatibility:

In the far right, the smaller black box next to the CPU is my UPS.

Really crappy cell phone pictures.. kinda blurry.. quick spec, though:

Box on the left is Gladys.. shes running:
Asus P6T-Deluxe
Intel Core i7 920
12gbs of DDR3
Two 500gb hdds in RAID0
Two BFG GTX280s in SLI
Corsair HX1000
The case is a Thermaltake Sorprano (need a new case) and yeah shes a bit dusty inside. Im gona clean her out real good this weekend. This box gets a 5.9 vista rating and a 7.9 in win7beta.

The box on the right is Lucy... shes running:
Asus P5Ne-SLI
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz
8gbs of DDR2
a single BFG 8800GTS OC
Same RAID0 setup as Gladys
600watt off brand PSU
The case is by Ultra... its called the Grid.. This box gets a 5.4 in vista.. havent tried win7 on it yet.

I want to get larger cooler cases for both boxes. I wana upgrade the Core 2 Duo to a Core 2 Quad and swap out the ddr2 for some better stuff... maybe pop in a second 8800gts and run it in sli...

both boxes are hooked up to 22'' Dell monitors. Ive some sweet logitec 5.1 speakers hooked up to the core i7 box which you can see spread out around the desk in the pictures. This set up is great for two-boxing any MMO. I mainly use the core i7 for all my gaming and the core 2 duo for business and school.

My Computer

Hello everyone!

I bought some new parts for my box (actually, I'll change almost everything hehe) and they are supposed to arrive tomorrow or the day after tomorrow but I have some concerns about some stuff specially the cable management.

Here's a list of the components I'll be having:

Case: Thermaltake V9
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 1000W
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 OC to 3.4Ghz
MOBO: EVGA 780i Triple SLi
GPU: MSI nVidia GTX 295 SLi
RAM: 8GB (4 x 2GB OCZ DDR2-1066 / PC2-8500 / Platinum Series)
HDD: 1 x Samsung 750GB / 32MB / 7.200 RPM)
FAN: Thermaltake Mini Typhoon
Mon: 2 x ViewSonic VA2216w

I've been looking all over the internet for ppl with a rig like this to tell me that I won't be having any problems with the cabling and/or heating. I want to OC the CPU to at least 3.4 Ghz (it comes at 2.6) and add a second GPU card later to make a quad-SLi but along with those changes, I'll switch to water cooling.

Has anyone had a good experience with the Thermaltake V9 case and a setup like this before? I've noticed from the pictures I've found that besides from the bottom opening and the back of the 3.5" bays, there isn't any room to go back and forth with the cables.

I'll post a picture as soon as I rig it up ;)

Thanks!!!
