Question for all of you:

ATi Radeon X1900GT (512MB) or eVGA 9800GT (512MB) - Which is better?

I currently have the ATi card but found the 9800GT and a 9800GTX on ebay. Wanted to know if I would notice any graphic enhancements...

Currently I play Battlefield 2 but want to get into more games down the road after I upgrade some other parts of my system (Mobo & Ram).

Any help/advice is appreciated

Thanks

-Jeff

What is your price range?

Least I would go with is a NVidia GTX260 at the least.... for $350 you could get a MSI NVidia GTX 285 and be golden....

I have always chosen NVidia over ATI, I just dont think ATI is all that great, and NVidia is more widely supported IMHO. They also do a greater amount of driver updates...almost on a weekly/semi weekly basis.

Price range is LOW. Like cheapest possible! lol

$350 is way too expensive. I am not even spending that much on the new ram/mobo I will be getting. lol

Even $199 is still too pricey for me.

I want cheap as possible. I have been looking on CraigsList and eBay for a good deal.

Good plan, I'm 51 and I can't recommend retirement enough. I hope to see 3D graphics a whole lot sooner than that. As for 15 years from now, probably something a lot like what we are currently using based on the last 15 years but I would hope to be using something that has far less power consumption with greater through-put, has a virtual keyboard and holographic display (one can always dream......right).

O believe me, she runs extremely well! Very stable, powerful...and solid. Runs any game i've thrown at it at maximum settings. She's my baby :p :)

not bad there lukas, cool system you got there. Don't ya just love the SLI. I know I do.

The only thing I'd suggest there. is that with SLI, any decent GPU, and you have 2 decent ones. Any decent GPU will do better with a faster CPU. If you took that E8400 from 3.0 to something very easy to reach like 3.6 Ghz or so.. you'd get better performance out of the SLI. a decent chunk. more than a few FPS. that chip could probably do 4.0 Ghz. but I'd say 3.6 would be the sweet spot.

Other than that, all good. Nice case, I love those 1200's

OH, and to everyone here at Vista64.. Amplid, everlong, accord, any of you guys.. If you want to buy my old Cooler Master CM690 case, that I've only had for like 8 months.. It's for sale, Remember I painted the inside black, and added a window. It's a great case. I'm selling it if anyone wants it.

Accord, it would go AMAZING with your new 750i board.. that is what went in there originally anyways, since that is what I have.. You got the FTW edition right? PM me for info, or pics if anyone wants it...
