Show us your rig

Hi xguntherc,

Can you tell me if this is bad for my 12v Rail, it is only reading about 7.5v on some programs and on Everest is only 9.79v, I am thinking this is why I can't get a stable overclock above 4Ghz and when I try to stress test it drops even more.

I'm thinking your answer will be yes this is bad and I should buy a better one, also can you tell me what your voltage is at for your new PSU.

Here's a couple of screenshots of my new build. I didn't have a camera handy when I was building it, so just took some now of the chassis with it running.

It's more of a small nuclear reactor.

Got all the specs on my system specs list.

I was going to get the Corsair 750w PSU, but when I received it, it was actually a Thermaltake 750w, so I contacted them and they was just a small mistake, and as it was the same price and still has the 2 PCI-E things (well 1 PCI-E 6 pin and 1 PCI-E 8 pin with an 8pin to 6pin PCI-E adapter) I decided to keep it and runs fine.

I also like case stickers, so I bought a bunch to put on the case :p

Lool gunther! I ordered the pc p and c 750 two days ago and Ill be installing it as soon as it arrives:D Are you happy with it, or any complications? Why did you lose the Tuniq?

The Nvidia edition looks great everlong! Congrats on the new rig! Have any pics on the inside perhaps?:D

Guys, what do you think of this Antec 900 copy by thermaltake, the V9? To be honest, I like it better than the Antec... :p

Nice choice there amplid, I was thinking about getting that case, it has good cable management, great cooling fan setup, stylish looks and the top Audio and USB ports are well designed for easy access and will have good clearance if being placed under a desktop.

Unlike my New Armour case which sadly lacked any good design in that department, the only negitive I had about that case, and this is just a personal preferance, is the Red LED's on the Front

Hello all....:)

I'm starting my first ever build; I have received the first two components.

A Cooler Master Cosmos RC-1000 chassis and a Corsair HX 620w PSU.

An ASUS P5Q Pro is the next component I'm going to purchase.

I'm buying it a piece at a time and I'll take pictures (and have questions) as I put it together.

Nice.. I'd love to get the Cosmo's case.. I want it.

also that 900 look alike looks pretty sweet. I want the Cooler Master HAF932 i think.. and as of right now I have the PCP&C sitting on my counter. I've not thrown it in my system yet. usually when I get a computer part I add it to the system instantly. or ASAP.. I love workin on the PC.

I've been waiting for the retard I bought the TRUE off of used to send me a part. the VITAL part of the Cooler, or any cooler is the Mounting bracket. He forgot to send that. Thats like someone buying a car, and you sending it to them without wheels.. are you kidding me. haha

So ya. I am still waiting for him to reply and say he sent it. I ordered one online this morning anyways as I don't wanna wait for him. so I'll get the TRUE and PCP&C in my system as soon as that arrives.

and Grim.. thats very very bad. and I'm almost POSITIVE thats why your not getting stable overclocks. the PSU has much more to do with getting a stable machine, and OC then people think. you can get much more stable and high with 12.30 on the 12v rail with less voltage to CPU than you could with 11.95v on 12v rail.. as in the stronger the current, the better less volts the OC takes. but only to a certain level. but when OC'n every bit counts.

Grim. I've had the same problem. I have a strong Watt hungry system. and HWMonitor showed my 12v rail at 7.93v.. and 7.91v Load. but then everest ultimate showed 11.93v. so I'm not sure. was 11.92 in BIOS.
I'd try a few other programs and see what they say. and if thats an accurate reading I strongly strongly advise you get something new.. asap. before it fails and takes ur board with it.

I know you only have a dual core, but ur system is close to the same as mine. but with a Dual, and with Water. water takes even more voltage. I did a voltage calculator with my 260 Oc'n to 720, and quad at 4.0 ghz with my sig rig and it recommended a 6-700w PSU. i think you need the same or more with WC. I'd recommend you get a NON modular.. single 12v rail. not multiple... 750w or more PSU.

Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI NVIDIA SLI Certified (Dual 8800 GTX and below) CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies
this is what i just bought. so should be good for you. 750w load, and 810 max. I've been told my many many people from XS that this is basically the BEST 750w around. and PCP&C is known to be one of the best.. get this or something stronger. it will handle a quad with SLI GTX260's. many guys i talked to had that exact setup so I'm sure I'll be fine.

:O Your first ever build, Ted??:p Aww I rememeber when I started on my grandpa's one (not that I'm such a pro, just built one so far), but it seriously is great to build one yourself!!:D My PC P&C is on the way now:D

Gunther, that v9 is only €70 (in America prob $80 or so...), so pretty much a bargain like your CM 690...

Oh, tonight are the elections, right?:D I won't ask you for your preferences, that's personal;)

Could someone recommend a 800+ watt modular PSU for me? I'm looking for something snazzy, lights and all if there's anything decent.

I'm liking that ABS Tagan, and I see that it comes in an 800 and 900 watt version as well, the reviews seem to be good on that PSU. Does anyone have any feedback on that?

Id recommend the ABS Tagan modular series. GREAT PSUs.

My Computer

My new PC p&c 750 arrived today, but I found out that the screw holes in my case are badly placed, so rather than screwing holes in the case, which my sister will inherite, I'm going to wait untill I buy me a new case. So the 750 will have to wait in the box a little longer...:p

Cheers,

Amplid

Is that a tool-less case.
It is indeed. :D
There's a catch on the back you press to release the side panel.

I love this case, I have 2 other CoolerMaster cases and they're all so well built I can't see me buying any other brand. To be fair I did build a system in a silverstone case for a friend a while back which was pretty good but nothing on a CM ;)

The CM-1000 is big though. The stores never had one on display and was a little larger than I was expecting when I got it but it's so much more than the pictures promised. I can't recommend this case highly enough, it is worth the money and will last years.

Perhaps not the most objective endorsement but I've been through so many cases for my own projects and servers for work and consider the build quality, design and attention to detail to be second to none.

Marv.
