Some pics of my rig built on a budget! Sorry about the poor quality I had to use my camera phone! It is a cheap £20 case and I sprayed the inside with a matte black which looked better than the silver.

gotta do what you can.. budget is all you can afford. build it. It's worth the learning along the way. and soon you can build a better one.

I started small but now have build the machine I've always wanted.

Not bad sir.

Yes it will fit... and those clips for my drive bay are stock, they came with the case. It's actually a decently cheap case, butgreat for cable management and airflow. If you found that picture of my case, you probably found the rest.. It's a great case, and only like $70.00 USD here.. it's cheap. but gets compared to cases in the $200+ range all the time.

I don't think you can separately order the clips like mine has.. Sorry.

The Zalman CNPS 9700 will definitely fit? I have heard good things about this cooler and was thinking of ordering it. I will keep scouting around for some clips thanks for the reply mate.

Here is a club of MY case. it's very popular. Check out my entire list of pictures I'm halfway down the first columb.
The "Official" Cooler Master 690 Club - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

If the case is a Tooless design then you can purchase similar clips.. thats your only chance.. and if you don't already have the 9700.. I'd strongly recommend Not getting it. They do a good job. but for the same price or less you can do much better.

The Zalman 9700 is around $65.00 everywhere you look. and it's hufe. for the same size and cheaper.. with MUCH better cooling I'd get the
Xigmatek s-1283
Newegg.com - XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

It's one of the best coolers on the market, only 2 beat it.. yet it's the cheapest.. I'd strongly recommend this over Zalman 9700. or if that is to tall. you can always get the Tuniq Tower.. or OCZ Vendetta 2 is cheaper than the Zalman also..

If you can find the Xig.. I'd get that personally.

Thanks for the advice on the cooler mate I will take a look. I have been looking at the overclock site over the last few days. I like the design of the Zalman cooler with the blue LEDs and heard it is good also but I will look at the ones you mentioned. Where can I find the clips you mentioned I dont mind if they are the same as the ones in your case as long as they are black or blue?

Nice Mr Needs! That's a setup to be proud of (and jealous as I am...)! Make sure you put more effort in the cable management in the thermaltake though...:p (No offence;))

Some things are a bit diff now, like I have a KB and mouse for the second monitor on my desk and things are a bit more organized but meh.. lol

My Computer

ye thats the only problem, my psu has soo many cables and i only need one of each really. i can disconnect the cables but they are all seperate eg/ sata power x3, 4 pin connectorsx3, 4pci-e x4. its a bit annoying considering that. the only reason ive wedged all the cables to the front is because its not open at the front so no airflow round that area!

Well I've just ordered my new parts for my PC.

Bought:

Intel e8200 - Was going to get an e8400, but was a deal on Aria.co.uk and got the e8200 for £100, so saved £20 and can overclocked it easily anyway.

XFX 750i motherboard - Was going to get the EVGA 750, but the price has gone up to £150, and this was just £100 so saved money on it as well.

Corsair 750 Watt PSU
Zalman CNPS9700-NT Nvidia
Zalman Fan controller
Bunch of green 120mm case fans
1GB RAM to top RAM up to 4GB

And the Coolermaster 690 Nvidia edition to top it all off (Hence the green case fans :P)

And then throwing in my two 8800GTS 512s with my XMS2 RAM.

Expect pics towards the end of next week :P

and my new cooler that will keep me ... well, Cooler!

Gimme back my cooler.

Could someone recommend a 800+ watt modular PSU for me? I'm looking for something snazzy, lights and all if there's anything decent.

I'm liking that ABS Tagan, and I see that it comes in an 800 and 900 watt version as well, the reviews seem to be good on that PSU. Does anyone have any feedback on that?

I'd recommend a decently priced and solid PSU the gigabyte Odin GT 800w. they are really good. and you can manually increase the 3.3v 5v and 12v rails of the PSU with a program they give you. you increase these.. mainly the 12v rail and you can increase stability and overclock levels and performance significantly.

also I had a modular. and yes they are nice, but in reality. I used ALL but one plug in on my current PSU. and thats with only one HD and one optical drive. cuz they all use one wire and can hook many up to it. so I used all the plug ins anyways. modular is nice if you have a very low ammount of things in the case. also modular you loose signal, you loose voltage stability and it has fuzzy interference. I've been told by many many people that for gamers, or extreme systems or OCers that modular is not the way to go. and a single 12v rail is better than multiple rails also. as multiple ones get a cap.. and if you don't use it all. that cap leftover gets wasted. on a single 12v rail all that extra can go elsewhere when needed. So single 12v rail thats over 50A is actually better than 3 or 4.

this PSU i just got is 750w continuous and 810w peak. it's one of the best. they also have a PCP&C 840.. get that. but I'm not going modular.
