Hi All,

I was very impressed with the postings so far so I wanted to show you my HTPC project as it stands. I've still got a bit of work to do, Cable Management obviously being the priority :-) lol

The Spec is as Follows:

CPU: intel Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6
RAM: GEIL Dragon 4x2GB DDR2 PC6400 @ 800MHz
GPU: XFX GeForce 8800GTX XXX Extreme
HDD: 2x Samsung 500GB 16MB Cache SATA (RAID 0)
DVD: PIONEER DVDRW DVR-109 PATA
CASE: Thermaltake Mozart Medialab with VFD & Remote Control
EXTRA: Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8GB Readyboost enabled
DISPLAY: Samsung 40" FullHD 1920x1080P LCD
AMP: Sony STR-DE497 DTS Receiver connected to HTPC by Optical cable
SPEAKERS: 4x BOSE Cubes, 1x Bose Canter Speaker, 1x Yamaha Subwoofer
LAN: 2x 1Gbit Teamed RJ45 to a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme Pre-N 300Mbit Wireless Gigabit Router

My 2nd PC which I use as my server has 2.2TB of storage, expandable to 30TB internally which I intend to to gradually.

I'm currently toying with the idea of moving the HTPC to the computer room and cabling through the wall an HDMI Port and a couple of USB ports to cut down the noise and allow me to run the fans at full speed, the HTPC runs quite hot, I actually had to cut a hole in the side of the case to mount another intake fan as the system was overheating when playing Racedriver GRID...Oops! ;-) lol

Hope you like it, let me know what you think and if you have any ideas you may think will help, I'd be happy to hear them.

It's a Brick wall, with 6x 10mmx50mm zinc bolts securing the Swivel and tilt Wall mount to it. It's good for about 50Kg but the TV's only 20Kg so I'm confident it'll be fine :-)

JKay6969, welcome to Vistax64.
That's a nice looking set up you have going, and yeah cable management is always a pain. The best idea might be those little rubber coverings if you can't or don't want toget through the wall.
Looks like you got GRID on there aswell... nice.

Hi BigEasy18,

It is GRID, 1920x1080P looks gorgeous on the big screen, I never want to go back to my old 21" monitor, once you've gone FullHD you don't ever wanna go back :-) lol

I'll keep that in mind if the drilling operation fails, but it should be ok as there is a hollow wall on the other side so routing cables should be easy enough, just gonna be hard to swallow the £100 for the 10 meter HDMI cable...

It's running great, but I would not recommend going much larger than a 28" unless you plan on sitting back about 4 feet from it to see everything on it. ;)

I have not had any problems with it.

How is the backlight bleeding on Hanns. although every panel is different. Still curious tho.
