Here's what CPU-Z reads, I've taken a snip of every tab...:p

No, I had my pc custom built for me (would've rather done it myself, but I was an even bigger noob on all this back then)so maybe the guy from the shop OC'd it for me. It's a single core AMD 64.
That's a good hint gunther, I'm going to browse that site a bit.
Thanks for the help!;) (gunther have you checked my opinions needed thread again, I put the specs in a separate post, some people didn't have word;)

Greetings, Amplid

thats a pretty badass system you got there, Nice screen. I sure would Love to have one that BIG.. or love to have 2.. right now I have one 22 inch widescreen.. the samsung 226BW, it's a great panel, but I want another. I'm thinkin I might find a used or a Display model of a 19 or a 20 and put next to it.. or another 22.. if I go a smaller size. I want to put like a 17 on each side.. I just need to find a nice cheap monitor.. I should just get the cheapest 19 I can find.. like a Chimae or something.. haha

what do you use that 30 inch for. Whats that I see below it, do you do some engeneering or design stuff.. whats ur main uses??? Nice setup. I'm jealous.. well of the monitors..

and as to the 8GB of RAM Xen, ia I don't blame ya for getting another 4 of something slow instead of all 8 something newer.. if you got 8GB of a newer faster RAM you'd see very limited, if any results.. yours probably more than fine where you are..

and my G-skill is here, time to put it in.. OC it, and run Mark06 again! :)

The Eizo was a big investment and it took alot for me to give the cash for it. But it is amazing and flawless in colour critical reproduction. I am currently producing large scale ( 2 x 5.8 metre ) fine art digital paintings for some clients. The large scale screens and drawing tablet are essential to my workflow as they allow me to easily see and draw detail without having to be too zoomed in.

Yeah your right about the Ram and 8gb is not enough as I hit the scratch disk really quickly with those large files. I'm always upgrading so I'll stick faster Ram in my next major upgrade in a year or so. Might go down the Dual Xeon route with 16GB ram. I'll wait and see.

ya that would be a big move doing Dual Xeon.. but it sure would be fun..

so how much did that bad boy set you back.. $1200??? just a guess.. I've looked at those Apple 30 inch cinema displays. They look good also, but they are a lot.

and Xen, I threw the ram in, and it's not the right speed that it was advertized as.. I need to change it.. just didn't do it yet tonight. I went out instead.. Now I'm ready for bed, I've had to many beers to try and change stuff. lol. although I did run Mark06 again with the RAM, it will be different when its timing are right. but I managed to score a 11,886 with it.. not bad. I also bought COD4 last night Finally, so I'm exited to actually play that. I'm going to give it a try tomorro after work.. :)

Xguntherc....It was alot.....way too much......£3,000..:eek::shock::geek:

I could only justify it as I have received high end projects where Colour accuracy was essential.....good job I can put it on my expenses.

But it's the finest monitor I've ever used - No backlight bleed, exact colours, totally consistent brightness and colour across the screen - If I placed a dark green flat colour on the Dell 2407 it would show the dark green in the middle and a lighter green towards the edge. It was way off and caused alot of problems pre-print. None of that nonsense with the Eizo

Haven't even had a panic attack about the cost which must be a good thing. :)

wow.. thats actually really cool, so all of those are all done on your computer.. you draw it all with computer programs.. or what do you do.. and you use that Pad I see in your picture.. thats really interesting. I like that.. I really like that last picture in your 2008 list.. the main one that moves when you first enter the site.. Where can I copy it.. if you'd be ok with that...?

so that Monitor is the Top dawg basically.. can do it all.. it better for 3 Grand. but if your not getting panic attacks from the price then you should be good, plus can't you write it off anyways cuz it's for your job?

edit* maybe not, I'm not sure how Taxes work in london.. as they are probably much diffferent than they are in this hellhole we call the USA..

Those are great man, really. Wow you are talented..

I've seen some game artists use those pads to do their artwork for background scenery and things for games. I've always thought it would be so difficult to use..

Great work, I wish I could do something like that...but I'm not artistic in the slightest..lol..

Thanks for your comments.....nice to hear you like the work.

The A3 tablet is really natural to use but I guess I'm used to it as I have always had one connected. You can draw very precisely with it.

xguntherc, Only the 2008 page is Photoshop work and the rest are paintings in Oils and Acrylics. Also, the monitor was the best I could find and what really struck me when I first turned it on was the extra colours you see with a wide gamut screen ( it uses 16bit LUT and can render 98% of Adobe RGB colourspace ). I have never been able to achieve a really good range of greens and turquoise via computer images - I noticed this instantly - the reds are powerful too even when set to 80cd.....aarrrgh...I'm babbling.

Chris :)

haha you don't wanna post the URL huh.. thats ok, we get ya.

and ya they are very well done sir, all are oil painting but 2008, that makes it even better. Not bad, not bad at all..

and Fatboy.. very nice setup there, I sure Wish I could have got the QX instead of my Q6700, although it's been workin wonders for me so far, and I can say I'm very satisfied.. but i would love to have an extreme.. how much did that set ya back, I see it's a QX6700 so it's a early QX.. what ya pay, $1000 or so.. I just couldn't justify it, although I'd love to have the unlocked Multi's. Also Fatboy, what temps are you getting on that bad boy.. I'm interested to hear what it does, bein a 65nm chip.. and that it's OC'd a decent amount. I have my Q6700 at 3.5GHz at the moment on 1.45 Volts.

I also wanna know the temps becuase of what cooler you are using.. I was looking into some of the More costly coolers like that one and others like the Amanda.. but I settled with the Tuniq... so far it's treating me well, I've seen others with my CPU getting better results on cooling tho, and I have a decent cooling case.. so I might try to remount it.. right now, with a Q6700 OC'd to 3.5GHz on a eVGA 750i mobo and a Tuniq Tower 120 Cooler, my temps are 43 C Idle.. it's been getting better now I've cycled the AS5 a few times tho.. so let me kno, but great system man. I was considering getting that case myself.. it looks pretty sweet.

whats the remote on the side.. and what do you use it for mostly?? I'm tryin to decide if I'll use it enough to get one....

haha you don't wanna post the URL huh.. thats ok, we get ya.

and ya they are very well done sir, all are oil painting but 2008, that makes it even better.

Thanks.
Your close, $970
at 3.6Ghz about 44*c under-load and 36*c idle Normaly I only run it at 3Ghz so not to over stress it all the time :p
I'm using a VIGOR GAMING CLT-M2I 92mm Thermal Electric cooler (AKA Monsoon II) works well but at the time last year it was kinda high...

The remote came with an Asus MoBo and it is programable but I don't use it. I also have a WMC remote that came with my Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800 and I don't use it either. The mouse is faster. ;)

Hi,

New to the site, but I thought I'd share a couple pics of a new rig I just built.

Some relevant specs:

AMD Athlon X2 5200+
ASUS M2A-VM HDMI Mobo
Saphire ATI Radeon HD 3650 512 MV PCIE
Thermaltake Bach Case
2GB Corsair Ram
Snapstream Firefly remote
Vista x64 Ultimate

PC is connected to my Toshiba 42" HDTV via DVI to HDMI connector. PC is also connected to a monitor (via cables running along wall under carpet) on my coffee table and using wireless mouse and keyboard. The video card does all the HD video decoding (DVXVA) work so when Im watching TV/movies it uses about 2% CPU, so I can use my PC no problems for anything else.

A couple days ago I found an old IPAQ Pocket PC in my closet and decided to try and use it as a internal display in my case (it has a window for a VFD), now if Vista Sideshow would have just supported older Pocket PC devices it would have been a lot easier, but it doesnt. So I wrote a quick app in .netcf to interface with Zoom Player, when ZP is not in use it just rotates through some random images as a screensaver for now. The IPAQ fits perfectly in the case, so now I'll probably work on coding a few extra features and have them cycle every few mins like CPU temp, disk usage, bandwidth usage, time, weather etc...

Overview of setup:

A little closer up:

IPAQ inside the case:

Coffee table:

Since the display didn't show up well in the photos here is a screenshot of IPAQ when Zoom Player is running (shows time remaining):

wow... not bad, I wish I had a 42inch TV for my setup.. and I like the old Pocket PC idea. thats really cool. take a few more pics of that as I'm interested about that.. also quick question.. Where did you get that wallpaper thats on your monitor.. it looks exactly like one I used to have but can't find anymore.. where did you get it.. do you remember. or could you post a link or something to it. I wanna see if it's the same one I had. I think it is tho..

thanks.
