Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hm maybe you are right...
Like I said before I run installer twice. So instalation is ok.
But why my sound card isn't supported by Vista??
I have about half year old Toshiba A200 laptop.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Accid,

That is a good question. I would contact Realtek or the maker of the sound card and see what they had to say. They should have a type of Contact Us at their support site. It would be interesting to hear what they say.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

cybernetic87,

I'm not sure why. The ALC883 model is included in the Vista WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) supporting list in the README notes for the Realtek HD Audio driver.

Sorry, wish I knew of something for you. :(

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hi. I found this thread when searching on how to get my speakers to automatically mute when I plug in my headset. From reading this thread, it sounds like I should have the option in my Control Panel, but the option simply isn't there. I've attached a screenshot of what I see in Control Panel under Device Advanced Settings.

It is detecting the jacks correctly and knows when I plug my headset in to the front jacks. In Device Manager, the driver version is 6.0.1.5523 dated 12/5/2007.

Can anyone help with why the mute speakers option isn't listed? Thanks!!

Same here Matt, even the newest driver R1.86 hasn't got this option.

No solution for this yet.

But I've found solution for my other problem.

Delay in the rear speakers.
If someone has got the same problem here is how I dealt with it:

1) Uncheck Speaker Fill
2) Check Speaker position correction and set the rear speakers to +10dB, also change the distance to exact distance as the front speakers.
3) Choose any of the environment effects: room, bathroom etc.

It worked for me, now the sound in rear speakers is just the same as it is in the front speakers :).

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hi Brink
I bought Toshiba satellite A200 with vistax32 and microsoft HD audio. I like to install the Realtek HD audio Manager, I tried to install the Realtek version 1.7 to the latest 1.86 but failed to acheive the results I tried to install twice but latter on UPON boot the micorsoft audio is re-installed back.
kindly help me to install Realtek HD Audio and get rid of Vista built in HD audio manager.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hm did you read last few posts?
I have the same problem and still there is no solution for that. It seems that if you don't have HD Audio Manager in Control Panel, then your sound card isn't supported by Vista WHQL.
I have sent email to Realtec Tech Support about this problem but still no reply.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hi KNOWMORE,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

Try installing it one more time and restart afterwards to see if the Realtek HD Audio Manager shows up in the Control Panel. Also check the version number in Device Manager for the current number to verify that the new driver is installed.

If it is and you still have no HD Mananger, then like Accid stated, your model number may not be supported by the WHQL. Read the README file at the Realtek driver download page to see if your model number is included.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Good evening chaps :)

Sorry to possibly be asking a simple question and excuse the fact i'm a total beginner with this, as the topic states I have the Realtek HD audio driver, which was working fine. Then I had to format my PC, which I did, loaded vista ultimate again and downloaded Realtek HD audio driver. (i've tried every version by now)

It has installed fine and when I test my 5.1 surround sound it works great. All speakers play. When I test it in sounds again it all works.

But when using media player or watching a film i'm only getting it from the front 2 speakers.

Again, sorry to be wasting your time if this has been answered, I could'nt find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Iain.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Vista does NOT support hardware directsound, and it has to emulate this.

Try to choose anyone of the environment presets such as room, bathroom etc and enable bass management. It should help.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

I understand what your saying, but until I formated my PC they worked fine. I did'nt need to select speaker fill, or change enviroment settings.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Picard I am having the EXACT same problem. Just installed vista ultimate x64 from x32 today after formatting. Now everything works but no 5.1 coming from WinDvD and I have the 1.86 drivers installed.

I have an evga 680i mb with realtek integrated.

Anyone have any ideas? I only use digital out to my marantz receiver...
