If you had about 150 to 175 to spare...

The 8800GTs/GTX/GTS/etc all run hot. Many idle in the 50s.
I have the G15 keyboard and use core temp to monitor all my temps while gaming as it has a plugin for the lcd screen.

BTW Jekyll, you won't be disapointed by the 1200. Its a great case. As for the guy that said too many fans can be bad... Yes, they could be, if they aren't set up properly(Intake, Exhaust) If they are set up to give a good airflow then you should be fine, as the actual heat generated by these fans don't have much of an effect on the system if there is a good airflow within the case.

Thanks calhounhusker,

Like you I have the G15 keyboard and although I can monitor the temps while gaming, I seem to have got into the habit of turning it off

Yes I am looking forward to that case, and I shan't be putting anymore fans in it, I'll make do with what comes with it, should be more than enough for me :D I just have to be sure to ask my computer bloke whether or not I need a new PSU as I am not sure what I currently have, I think its a 600w or 650, I know Smarteyeball said that I should be ok there and so the computer guy will probably echo those words, I sure hope so, but I will make sure to ask him to check if its enough, I just can't be bothered to take the side off right now, its a bit of a performance as I have to unplug everything and lift the case off the desk onto the floor and then have the side off, and then put it all back again

Hi Bruce,

Thanks, I am now happy about it, at last, :D sli is two graphics cards is'nt it? I take it gpu is meaning graphics card :o

Although I doubt I would ever be able to afford that however fantastic that would be :(

Jekyll and Hyde ;)

Hi J&H, your GPU temp is good as it is.

I forgot to mention that all you need is keep it dust free. Chunks of dust tend to tangle up at the GPU fan. It is a good time to clean up when you swap case. Afterward, you may clean it every few months with spray air. All you need to do is open the side panel and don't have to touch anything, then spray the crap out of it. The fan usually is facing down; if it is hard to get to it, you can carefully lay the case on the side so it would be easier to work with. At the same time you can also blow out the CPU heatsink and fan.

Another thing, you don't have to worry about adding any more fans to your new case. 3 intakes from the front and 3 exhausts at the rear top. The air flow with carry the heat out the case smoothly. That is why it is a good case.

You can get a used 8800GTX now a day costs less then your new case. So, when you are ready, just come here and we will walk you through and make sure you get it right. Don't hasitate to ask any sort of questions.

Enjoy, my friend.

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

When it comes to dust as I am allergic (yes something else! lol) I tended to blow as I do not have a spray air can, not sure where I can get one, would Halfords be of any use? my Mum has a soft pastry brush which I used to use only on the fans you understand, and all it did was shoot it straight up into the air and of course straight up my nose lol but I'll certainly have to get one as I desperately need to keep this PC running a long time as my computer chap is retiring soon and once he goes, that is it for me and PC's  as I cannot fit a lightbulb, well I can but not without flinching lol

So if I look at the future it does not look good, I only have the one PC you see, and so if I wanted to continue with my one, once it packs up I have no means in which to get help, sorry this is starting to sound like a sob story, and it is an extremely upsetting thought for me that once that day comes, I am lost.

The other problem I have is that of my dear ol Mum, she hates the PC and would never allow me to get a second one or a laptop even, but I have to admit that a laptop would be great for me to come here for the help I would desperately need.

Oh how I long for the day when PC's would never break down or get knackered, requiring new parts etc.......still don't we all :D

I must apologize to AstaLaVista, sorry mate, but I did'nt intend to hijack your thread ;)

Yes, it is. Lots of room and easy to work with, tooless. Every thing sets up practically and functional. You can mount fans any where you like. Don't have to fool with the useless door on the front like the other designs. My only complain is the surface is not smooth which collects dust and hard to wipe off.

I personally like my case to be compact and simple like the mid size CM Centurion 590 comes with best value and functionality. Now is $59 at Newegg.

Hope this helps.

Well I went into my Computer chaps store today and asked him about the PSU and he immediately switched everything he could off in the Store to let me hear hi PC, I could barely hear a sound, and even with the fans right up I still could'nt, awesome, but he did this for a reason as he asked me if mine is noisy, and compared to his it is, although my case for the way my room is layed out, is right next to me and I can easily hear the fans and PSU (or does not that make noise?) excuse my ignorance here lol

Anyway, turns out his PSU is, and I cannot now remember what he said, but I think he siad 1400 something or other? and his case was to me almost as if it was'nt on, infact were it not for the blue lights on the fans, I would have sworn he was having me on and that the PC was actually off!!

So it now has changed for me in that I will be getting the same PSU as he has, and he did say that for my situation come the Summer I will benefit and that this whole new shell will extend the life of my components, although the PC I have here is now already 2 years old, so to me I keep thinking its on its last legs already!!! :( and now I am getting a new case, seems to be a bit daft if the PC has not got long to go, but as he said it will extend its life, but for how long know one can know, as things can go pop at anytime, the nature of the beast I guess :(

PSU's generally don't make a noticable sound. My PSU stays on for about a minute after shutting down the PC and it's very quiet.

Did he get the computer up to load, because when the CPU and GPU start spinning up, they're what get noisy, though it shouldn't be too bad if it's more or less silent at idle. Mine is fairly quiet at idle. I can hear it from all around my room, but outside my door I can't, though I like the gentle noise of the fans spinning. It's when they really start whirring on the GPU and CPU when I play Crysis or something it starts to annoy me

He just had his PC idle on the desktop, mine at present makes the same sound no matter what its doing, playing the most intensive game, or doing nothing, I too can hear it all around my room, and outside the door too.

Another thing that I am slightly worried over, will my motherboard fit into the new case? I know another daft question, but so what lol :o

I guess I am slightly over nervous about things as I asked the bloke today whether my caddy will fit, he looked a bit anxious at first and said "You have two?" I do but know that they can't be in there at the same time, so not sure why he asked that, anyway, finally he said it would so thats ok, but with me nothing runs easy and smooth, so I am getting into a lather about it all, and just hope there are no complications :(

Guys, I may be threadjacking my own post here but I gotta ask. I think I am leaning towards the CM HAF932, although the Antec 1200 also tickles my fancy, cheapest I have found the haf 932 is $ 149.99 + Free shipping from buy.com, cheapest I found the 1200 is $ 159.99 + free shipping.

Now, my question is this: we all know the GTX260 runs on the hot side, being that I already got my new CM 750w PSU and I also have my ECS 8800GT card that comes already with the Accelero S1/S2 passive heatsink/fans and the temps are minimal compared to the GTX, would it be better if I were to install the 8800GT in the first PCIe slot and the GTX260 in the bottom one?

The way I figure, the fans from the 8800GT may help the gtx260 get a bit more cool air or am I reading this totally wrong?.

I don't even know this but I think I could always force the gtx260 to be my primary and the 8800GT as my PhysX card in the Nvidia control panel but I am not sure about helping with the cooling process if I install the cards this way.

Also, with the addition of the new case, do I really need to bother with that setup? Arghhhhh... to many different options flying in my head at the same time.

I think part of Mr. Hyde has gotten a hold of me! :D

Asta, There really is no need for 2 video cards, the GTX will do just fine for everything, and that case will keep it cool.

Well, I know that but, what do I do with the other card? it pains me to see it there, tossed aside, getting no use, it is looking at me with puppy eyes... you know! ;)

The way I figure, more is better and if I can use the 8800GT just as a secondary PhysX card, why not... this is why I purchased the new CM 750w PSU for.

I do understand the hint that the GTX 260 should be the one on the primary PCIe slot though.

Sell the 8800?

Was gonna but when I saw the price they were going for, I decided against it. That is what I usually do with my other PC components since I usually find them at a very good or even OnSale price but, the card was a Xmas gift for myself and even though I didn't pay retail I paid a good price.

I would be loosing like 80% of what I paid and I only used for about 6 month before deciding on the GTX260 (found an awesome deal, had to pull the pin), hence, my conundrum now. :(

If you don't wanna sell it, then just throw it in as a Physx card like you said. It's about all it's good for apart from leaving it in its box on the shelf.

Talking of selling, my computer chap asked me what I wanted to do with my case, keep it, sell it, or?

So I told him to sell it for me, whether he also sells the PSU with it I don't know, but I do know it won't fetch much, but I guess £10 or so is better than nothing, although what he will actually get I have no idea.
