If you had about 150 to 175 to spare...

Its ok, I just thought as it has alot of fans and bits and bobs that there might have been a disk with software on it, but I realise now that it would'nt, pay no attention to my idiotic notions, I'm being daft again lol :o

Hi Jekyll and Hyde, please don't feel bad. Everyone comes up with some odd questions every now and then.

I can see why you came up with the question about the disk. Since you mentioned that your new case may have a fan speed controller then you will naturally thought of software.

Well, as to make it clear, usually your computer friend would have to install the controller in the drive bay for you and it would be monitor with software comes with the controller or some common fan speed monitoring software.

Another, about you are having questions on the number of fans your friend told you; well, usually the case comes with a certain number of fans that may be different from what is available slots. That means you may fill up with all available slots with fans in needed. However, it is not necessary to fill up the slots because fans generates heat; therefor more fans is not better. you need to strategically add fans to create a smooth air flow to carry the heat out the case which determined by where your unit is located and your components arrangement.

My friend, please don't hesitate in asking any questions.;) Hope this helps.

Bruce

Hello Bruce nice to meet you :D

Thank you for your nice post, I'm always like this I'm afraid, a big girls blouse LOL no seriously, I do worry alot about things and am now after you have said that about the number of fans, doubting my coming purchase, I don't blame you so don't get me wrong, its just that when you have been to so many tech forums, or just been and had a read you get so many conflicting views and opinions that I end up totally confused and not knowing what to do lol

I mainly got it into my head that the more fans the better, but I must track the git down that told me that lol

I am of the understanding that at the front of the Antec 1200 there are 3 fans, then 2 at the rear, a monster fan on the top and I think thats it, is this how the case will come, sorry to phrase that better, does the Antec 1200 come with those fans as I have described? or will I end up with a dull looking case like the one I have now?

I am into the lights you see, looks stunning and as blue is my favourite colour I can't stand by and let the opportunity go by

Chris ;)

J&H, I use this site to check many things, but the most important is to look at the pics they use... awesome

Newegg.com - Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

From the same site... specs:
Cooling System:
80mm Fans: No
120mm Fans: 3 x 120mm blue LED front fan
2 x 120mm blue LED rear fan
200mm Fans: 1 x 200mm top fan
Side Air duct: No

This is what the case will have to come with, if there are optional fans slots, those must be bought by you.

cool pics here...

Well considering its going to set me back £240 including the guys labour I would have thought it would have a few fans at least

I'll check those sites now, thanks mate

Sorry mate, I just saw the bit you posted in quotes, stupid fool I am, I must open my eyes more lol

Question is: Are those enough fans for my system? I know what Bruce said about fans, so I guess I would'nt need anymore than what it comes with.

I don't have my system crammed with lots of things, the biggest thing is the card a GeForce 8800 GTX

Then 4 gis of ram, a 500 gig HD and an ABit Motherboard, thats my lot oh and a Zalman Flower something or other, a large copper beast

I think you should be ok considering that I only have 2 120mm fans at the moment and I can get buy, here you'll have 5 120mm + 1 200mm.

If you see that you need more, you can always add more fans but, as Bruce said, more fans = more heat as well so there is always a compromise.

Get a Temp software for your CPU & GPU and test with the default fans. If you can do below 40C at idle... you'll be ok.

Temp software? where would I get that and whats best? would I have to buy it? my ABit has something called AGuru, but its been a real pain for me at times, I can't remember what it did but it was a nuisance hence the fact that it is not installed anymore, I think it was something to do with the Bios and each time I booted it would throw up some error but still boot, so I can't use that

How do I find that out

Incidentally I would have thought that the people/person that did this should have picked a different colour for those bars, afterall there must be lots of people who would be worried, or its just a case of me being unique, a word that was used for me once before but not for a good reason lol

Hi Bruce,

Thats reassuring, thank you :D don't think I can cancel the other case now, still it would be better for me in the long run I guess

When I saw 50+ and a 60 I hit the roof, as I thought that was getting too hot even in the Winter!!

It also works great if you like to add another gpu for a sli setup down the road.;)

Guys, Is it normal for a 8800GTX to idle at about + 55 C? My GTX260 idles at about 45C and I have read that they tend to run on the hot side of things but I don't recall my 8800GT idleing at those temps.

Not trying to worry you J&H or undermine what the other guys here have said, God only knows I ain't no PC guru, just asking a dumb question to learn a bit more.

CPU temps are very good, mine hovers at about 45C while at idle.

Also, what kind of keyboard do you use? Looking at your specs, you listed one that you are not using. I have the Logitech G15 Gaming KB and I use the Everest software because it has an option where I can program a bunch of different stuff to load in my G15 LCD. I make it run at start up, this way I can keep track of my temps while gaming.

Never mind, I remember now that you also use the G15 since we were discussing the programming of Crysis Suit Options. I don't know if the Trial version of Everest has this option nor I think it would be worth buying since your Case is going to be more than capable of running your PC at cool temps.

Its ok your not worrying me, the only worry I have is come Thursday when my Mum finds out she gets no money this week :( I'm in for a hammering

Thanks for reminding me about my specs, I need to do some adjusting to them, but I may wait until I get the new case and then do it, if my memory can handle that :D

All I can say about the GTX 8800 is that according to alot of reviews and my own computer bloke, they do get hot, but to counter that reviews and others have said as long as the cooling is good, then no problems, but thats just a one chaps view/opinion, others will vary I expect, and I have to admit that when it comes to being idle I have no idea and that was what you were asking, so you can disregard the other stuff before it :D just rambling again
