lol - I decide to take the plunge and buy the machine parts for the current build on April 26 - and when they started coming in I felt the same way....

Then I did a step up on my video card, then I bought another one to match it, then I go the dual 22" WS LCDs, ...

it never stops, my friend - it never stops.

Hi Ted,

Don't have an AMD processor, but have you tried increasing the speed a fraction?

My Intel E8400 runs at a tad below stock at 2990mhz - a lot of guys run the clock at 400mhz to match the RAM speed and the CPU runs at 3.6ghz no extra voltage or cooling needed.:geek:

Haven't tried it myself - IMO the HD is almost always the slowest component. Even a high WEI for the HD is relative - just means it's good for an HD.

When will your new setup be ready ?:D

When I was using my Athlon x 5200+, at 2.6GHz it got a 5.0 rating, and when I overclocked it a bit to 2.8GHz, the rating was up to 5.3.

Hello SIW2 and Everlong.

Unfortunately the BIOS for this HP OEM (almost hehe) machine has NO options for adjustment; it's locked at what it is. Thank you both for the suggestions though.

I hope to finish the new machine in the next month or so; I'm just taking my time.
I keep getting sidetracked; like today I installed XP to the lineup and I've spent most of the day rounding up drivers. I'm just having a good time goofing around. I do want to get the new "toy" finished though.

I hope y'all are having a good time also; keep looking up!

Later :) Ted

Hello SIW2

I tell you, you're a wealth of Windows knowledge; thank you!

btw: XP is strange after Vista and 7. Just my two cents; not trying to anger anyone.

Here is a tip for all you budding enthusiasts who want a high WEI,

When you make a change to your hardware such as speeding up the RAM or as in my case applying the TLB patch for a Phenom. Then go to C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore and delete the XML files relating to your score, before updating your WEI

Small changes such as these are otherwise not normally recognised
