Isn't there a hotfix for SLI'd Graphics Accelerators?

Hi,

was wondering if anyone can help me. I have 4gb ocz pc2-8500 memory running at 1066mhz on Vista Ultimate 64 bit. on the Window Experience Index Scores i get 5.9 for everything else but memory is at 5.4. i have looked at some posts on here and people are using 2gb and getting 5.9! how is this possible?

can i rectify this? just find it odd.

Are you using 2 x @GB modules or 4 x 1 GB Modules? And how are your timings?

When I boosted my RAM up to 1000 MHz I hit 5.9 immediately on the first refresh of my WEI.

Hi Chillax,

I have 2x2 GB Patriot PC2-8500 1066MHz Dual Channel RAM like you with no overclocking, but my timing is set as the default 5-5-5-15 instead. It hits 5.9 in WEI.

Make sure that they are place in the RAM slots correctly to. Most dual channel memory will need to be place in a certain order for the best performance, usually the same colored slots. You might also try 15 instead of 18 to see how it runs.

The OCZ defaults to 5-5-5-18 or the faster (OC) timings of 4-4-4-12.

Which ram exactly are you using, perchance the Reaper HTC or the gold / silver?

Also, you might want to check the actual speed your RAM is running at - CPU-Z will tell ya for sure....

My ReaperX DDR2 C8000 RAM shows in CPU-Z as PC2-6400 RAM, but I pushed it to 1000 (not an Overclock, an even clock as that its what it was rated) and I went from 5.4 or 5.3 to 5.9 - no OC at all. But, as I said, I had to set the mobo to run at that speed because the CPU-Z is recognizing the RAM at PC2-6400 not PC2-8000

John,
I have this memory OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC 4GB Edition
OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Reaper HPC 4GB Edition

i asked at the OCZ support about this issue and they assured me

'the memory will say its PC6400 as thats the top Jedec table at this time'

also cpuz is telling me its running at 533 x 2 so guess thats good enough. OCZ did say that WEI is crap for performance comparison lol

Right, it is an OK measurement, nothing you really want to base a purchase on, lol. If CPU-Z says it is running at 533MHz, then it is 533MHz. :) Yeah, if you read a few pages back, it doesn't only measure memory, but the FSB, also for the memory test. Looking at yours, it seems to be stock. That is more than enough, but Vista doesn't think so, incorrectly.

chillax - did you put the memory in the correct slots to enable Dual Channel use?

I have the other HPC model - OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ PC2-8000 ReaperX HPC 4GB Edition - and my memory would run synced with my CPU, meaning that it was running a very very low speeds and Vista let me know that - with a 5.4 score. I had to 'over clock' the memory - which really means I had to unlink the memory from my CPU so it would run at its full potential, but it still only went to 800, whereas it is rated for 1000, so I nudged it a bit to get my 1000 speed, but even after around 850 MHz my Vista was showing me a 5.9 score, and CPU-Z was showing 425 (Dual Channel takes it to the BIOS reporting 850) - so if CPU-Z is showing 533 for your RAM, then I have a sneaking suspicion that you're *not* in Dual Channel mode....

Oh, and BTW - those 32MB Cache HDs that I got 2 of (and that you have 1 of)? TigerDirect has them on sale - $80 a pop.....

Buying 2 more tomorrow :P

Is the ram actually running at 1000 MHz? I forced the BIOS to run mine at that speed, with the default OCZ timings and all is well....it bumped from a ~5.3 to 5.9 straight out.
