Amazing how quick the connection is, it's just a shame it takes forever to actually load the web page, then the page you want could be blocked...
I'm thinking about asking out network manager if he can set up the wireless around the school up on my netbook, since I take it to school alot... Idk, I'll see what happens...

Just had Virgin Media on the phone, they cleared the cache on the modem, apparently there was some conflict on there, but why my speed on my computer is so slow, I don't know.
I'm thinking of pulling the old RJ45 back down from the loft and going that way...

Its funny how im paying verizon the same speed on AT&T for 7mpbs, and +10 dollars I can get 7mbits, but some stupid court order, and verizon dont service here. I live in a 600k median + community too...

Here's mine on my laptop, was upgraded to 20MB last night. Worked out that after we complained about not getting the speed, we could get 20MB for an extra £1.something/month
Virgin Media are also sending us a new Modem/router/all-in-one box, so we can tale full advantage of the speed because our modem can't take the speed *It's the old black Motorola modem lol* and so we have one box, not the modem and router.

And yet, I can view movies online without getting buffer problems. I have never downloaded a video movie (though a rare short You Tube one on occasion), rarely download an audio (maybe every few months or so - and typically an oldie I just need to replace), and most program downloads aren't large enough to be much of an issue (even though I do that quite a bit) - so despite the dismal results (especially compared to many others here - if not just about everyone else here), it doesn't really affect me all that much (unless I open too many windows/tabs at the same time - and again, that's only a rare problem and usually because I neglect to close them when done rather than I'm actually using that many).

Still, I may look into a bit of an increase if only to avoid being so embarrassed (it really is pitiful by comparison). I believe even still using the same ISP and DSL, there's an option to increase speeds with a different (more expensive) version or subscription. I don't know if it means upgrading my modem or router or anything else yet - but I may take some time to check it out. It may not be as much more expensive or troublesome as I'm thinking.

Regardless, I'm not quite ready to switch to cable or whatever else those of you with such phenomenal numbers are using - that really is too much of a bother (and I'm sure it's quite a bit more expensive and will require new equipment) and my cable connection goes down MUCH more often than my phone connection and I don't want to be hours or days without access.

BTW, finding the speedtest start button on speedtest.net among all the registry cleaning and other such program downloads was more challenging than I expected - I came quite close to pushing the wrong button TWICE!

I tried BT. They were worse. Did a test with their guy, got a 1.02mb/s test, although sometimes I am in the 80s. No upgrade for me then. Anyway, showed him how bad it was. He said that he was very sorry. The line quality was horrendous, and I was losing vast numbers of packets over a fast connection, and they were upgrading people faster than me, far faster, but I had passed the speed test, and he had no authorisation to initialise an upgrade when there were areas that were "slower".
