I am trying to switch to the 64bit Vista Home Edition because the 32 bit won't utilize but so much RAM and I have found that I need it to do more. I was wondering if you still have this iso available. Also do you have any suggestions on how I can get it? I don't think email will allow something that large. I apprecciate it. Amanda

Amanda, don't you want it any more? It's a link to the download, not the actual file that I will be sending you.

I need a link to Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit ISO.

Thanks,

Hi Terry, I just emailed it to you. Please edit that email out of the message above. All the best ;-)

Good, hope it helps. Don't forget to update it afterwards as there are many to go since SP2 was issued until it's current.

I appreciate it. May I ask is it true that all my apps that are working on the 32bit will still work under the 64bit but unless they are specifically 64bit themselves, they will not be faster? I have a laptop but it runs windows 8 and I don't particularly like it. I use a lot of right click programs and most are not compatible with windows 8. I have to admit I've never done this before and I"m a bit nervous not being able to use my desktop for no telling how long. I do appreciate your help and will let you know how it goes, but I might be slow getting to it. I've already moved all my documents and special folders to my 3T external hard drive. I should probably back up all my device drivers to it as well or I may have to update all of them for the 64bit system. Thanks again. Amanda

I guess you've already ascertained that your motherboard and CPU are 64-bit capable? Basically the main reason to go 64-bit is because it's more secure but yes, applications that are memory reliant would be faster assuming you have more memory installed. The max I could squeeze out of my old XP box was about 2.9GB of the 4GB I had installed, now I have 24GB and the system sees all of it. It does make things faster although I don't know that actual 64-bit software is any faster of itself than the 32-bit version would be. I'd have to do some research on that. The olnly recent 64-bit software I tried was the Firefox one and as some of my favourite add-ons no longer worked I ditched it in favour of the 32-bit version.

Hi Folks,

Is a 32bit vista disk image still available? I received a wiped laptop that has the activation key for Home Premium 32, but I don't have a copy of vista.

Thank you!

Well, I already loaded a old OEM copy of Vista from another computer, and went to change the key to the one on the laptop, and since the loaded version was Ultimate, and the key is for Home Premium, it would not let me change the key. :(

I then tried entering setup from the Ultimate OEM disk but it would not let me select a lower version...only a clean install. :(

I will download the .iso and try to enter setup and adjust the version from there, but maybe I will have to start over from scratch...I dunno.

My Computer

If the OEM came with that other laptop then there it stays, it can't be used anywhere else.

I would start from scratch with the ISO I linked, after burning it to media of course.

Thanks for reminding me. I just looked and although my processor works for both, according to some of the threads I've read, I may not be able to find 64 bit drivers for my other hardware. I'm thinking there has to be a way to read what I have installed so that I could check it out first. U think running Everest or Aida would tell me? I appreciate it.
