hum... I think about one thing that would be a problem. The hdd of my computer is dead. I will buy a new one and install vista with my license that is on the dead hdd. Is it possible tu re-use the vista licence of the dead hdd to the new hdd ?

It should be OK but depending on the type of license, full retail or OEM etc., it may be necessary to activate it by phone as you are doing a major hardware change. Normally that is a routine procedure so I would go ahead.

You will not be able to install it on a new computer, if it is OEM (came with the computer). A new Hard Drive is not considered a new computer, you should not have a problem. If it is OEM, as a general rule, you will have to call the computer manufacturer for help and not MS. On occasion, they may be helpful, however.

Hi sorry about the quote, i just signed up and haven't had the time to figure out how to simple reply to a post just yet. :D
Well I just have a catastrophic motherboard melt down and was fortune enough to be gifted a simple dell laptop from a my brother.
The laptop is a E1705 limited to AO3 - 32bit processer and has Vista Home Premium installed yet I really would like to do a clean re-install minus the dell bloat - crap ware and media recovery hidden partition junk !
I moved away from Vista Ultimate 64x bit on my old system and went and ungraded to 7 and thought I wouldn't be needing it so I tossed it out , I know lesson learned
Though the Vista DVD Disc I had purchased back then was only SP1 so really wouldn't help me much anyway.
So my inquiry is a simple Vista Home Premium Edition w/ SP2 inbedded
Now i have the key code for the Vista Ultimate 64x bit edition SP1
will I be running into some trouble along the way?
