Today,
I went to the Maplin at Lakeside Retail Park and bought some new Cold Cathodes, since the last ones shattered in their cases, 1 ice blue, 1 UV, and I've got an original UV ;)
So yeah, installed them and done some more cable management, spoke to my Mum and Dad about the summerhouse, i think they might let me! :D

Oh shucks Lorien,

^Lol.

Today, got up at 6AM for the bootsale, started to drive down there and it started to rain, got down there and it stopped.
Didn't stall out... Stayed down there for like 2 hours then came home...

Installed a new CCTV camera, since the one by the cars was steaming up and we couldn't actually see the cars at night.
So yeah, cool day i spose, been raining most of the day..

It's raining - so an indoors day (as most are anyway). Expect to post a bit more in the Forums. Getting a visit from Vietnam Veterans Organization so they can check out the camper I'm donating to see if it can be hitched or needs to be put on a truck (as it hasn't been used in 10 years or so so who knows if it can be trusted on the roads). Getting a visit from another contractor for an estimate on fixing the front door (already have two and both were $1100!!). Hoping this will be lower but expect it to be in the same ballpark. At least I'm getting validation on the quotes so that appears to be a reasonable price (even if it seems excessive to me) - but I can't do the work myself so I have to deal with what the market seems willing to bear.

Otherwise, SOS - except for testing out this new IE9 beta that does have bugs and still needs some work but isn't too bad. Can't say I've found anything to recommend it yet - no "oh wow" features or anything like that. Mostly it's getting used to the new way it's set up (which I'm not sure I like, but I am getting used to it and it doesn't seem as bad today as it did yesterday).

Smurfyy, is your neighborhood that bad that you need video surveillance? An alarm system I can understand (I used to have one but it broke and I decided to cancel it as I'd hear an intruder breaking in anyway), but isn't that a bit overkill? I mean, what's next - a minefield or concertina wire or killer Dobermans? Then again, I'm in the USA as opposed to the UK so I'm armed to the teeth (and I really mean that) and may God have mercy on anyone who tries to break in here because they'll get none from me. I can't imagine living as defenseless as you must feel over there.

Considering the best I could find otherwise was Saitek C100X Wireless Keyboard & Mouse on PC from Gameseek.co.uk - The Webs Favourite Gamestore which was a bit more money (even when you consider S&H), it looks like you got a good deal. I don't know anything about that manufacturer so I can't comment on that. I'm sure you'll be happy with wireless as you can lean back with the keyboard on your lap and not have wires in the way (or being too short to let you do it). I taped a mousepad to the arm of my chair so I could use the mouse while leaning back as well (the mouspad needed a wrist rest to keep the mouse from rolling back off the pad).

I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse that I used when I was using a desktop (and it was great) and tried with my laptop but found the keyboard too cumbersome on top of the laptop keyboard (and it was too high to type comfortably lying in bed - much better than at a desk, it slid a bit too much, and also, depending on how I was positioned, sometimes even blocked the lower part of the screen) - so I just use the laptop keyboard and a wireless Logitech mouse and I'm pretty much accustomed to that now (though I can't type as fast because the keys are just a little too close together compared to a full keyboard and the numpad is essentially worthless on the laptop as I can't do it without looking which makes it slower than just using the keyboard numbers, and I don't have any of the special shortcut keys that come with some full keyboards - as seems to be the case here from the pictures).

Maybe I should sell my old keyboard and mouse on E-bay myself - though I don't know if I have the disk anymore (but I guess I could download the Intellisoft software and burn a disk to include). The only things I've ever purchased through online auction places are kits to make your own firearms (I've made several and while they work fine, they aren't really as good as originals (and not because I made them wrong but because the parts just aren't the same quality)) and custom ammunition (I wanted military/police versions and unique shotgun shells (one type works just like a flamethrower to about 200-250 feet!) which local stores wouldn't sell to me) - and that wasn't e-bay as they prohibit such products. I still have the Paypal account (I assume - haven't used it in over a year and it has no balance but is tied to the credit card). But then there'd be the hassle of finding a way to ship it (a box, packing materials, going to the store to ship it,...) - and chances are being old it wouldn't sell for much so it would be a lot of effort for little return. I guess I'll think about it (which means I'll probably do nothing - LOL!).

Maybe I'll eventually learn how to create shorter posts - but they just seem to get away from me.

Oh and Smurfyy, I'm still waiting to hear why you need video surveillance where you live. Though I'm armed to the teeth, even I don't have surveillance cameras setup. Are you getting intruders or do you need the extra warning time to get police there (since in the UK you're essentially defenseless) if you see invaders approaching?

We bought the CCTV almost instantly after we found what happened to the trampoline, so everything that happens to out house is recorded and all saved to DVD's. I think we are going to buy another DVR unit with 8 cameras if we have any more problems. Course the easy thing to do is move house, but thats letting them win.

Its problems with our neighbours, so childish, all started with a piece of land they thought they owned, which turned out to be ours. They trashed my trampoline by throwing massive chunks of wood and lit cigarettes over the fence.
Attached is a photo of what they did to my Dad's brand new Skoda Octavia...
