Ok....now, keep in mind, this is my simple, old school type machine. Ever since I stopped consistently gaming, I really have not had a need to upgrade. Sure, i'd like to, but it works just great for what I do with it. Been running for years, flawlessly, no issues whatsoever. No viruses, no blue screens. Plain-jane old Barton 2500+ OC'd to a 3200+(hardly even a temp increase) and still with a BFG6800OC(AGP). Every pc i've had, I built, since I won't ever "buy" a system.
Although, I wouldn't mind finding a really cheap, possibly used, actual 3200+ processor for it.
My old one, which my boy uses is older yet. It's got a 1.4ghz tbird, nV 5700ultra, and that runs flawlessly too. At this point, my plan is to just get myself a laptop, since it's all I really need, and give him this one as a small upgrade....while saving me some space and some mess that I could live without too.

The score kinda surprises me.....besides the processor dragging it down, it's not bad, considering the age.

The pc that my kid has, which is my previous one, has the same case, but it's burgundy. They have plenty of ventilation for what I was building at the time.

Actually it wasn't that hard, the only problem it gave me was the exhaust fan in the back. I had to take it out in order to be able to put the mobo and cooler in but i was about to install it again after everything was in place.

Welp. Ive posted my rig before, but here it is again, new and improved!

I upgraded to a Coolermaster HAF 932 case, and some water cooling.

I was going to do both GTX 285's but one is a different revision from the other, so I got screwed and had to do one for now.

Heres the pics!

OK!!...i've finally finished mine..it took me longer than i expected due to the fact that i swapped around so many finer parts to get things perfect and cared about every last friggin wire, that i went a couple of months over schedule, but the end result is very satisfying :) back on page 157 of this thread i posted my previous system...but this one is upgraded in many ways, from the cpus, down to the plentiful amounts of copper cooling parts i've added. also , i modified the motherboard with much improved chipset heatsinks which keep my temps nice and cool..my video cards and memory are also copper cooled. i also had the tower modded according to my specifications, but one major reason for this taking so long is that they did it incorrectly the first time, and i wasn't about to settle for anything less than what i wanted, considering all the money i was spending to have it done the right way. i'm very pleased with the end results. my triple desktop allows me to watch full screen movies on my 46" TV across the room, yet still have two full desktops to do whatever else i need..the coolest thing is, after the board performs all the primary BIOS tests, it then turns on the sets of SAS and SATA drives in consecutive order and the sound of the spin ups almost gives you the shivers..lol

after 30 minutes of intense stress testing, the temps were pretty good as they wouldn't go above 33 C. including the cpu fans, i've got a total of 14 fans running inside, and quietly too i might add.

it's a dream system to work on. - i can easily sit in front of the side window and stare inside for what seems like an hour...it's another world in there...and when i look into the two front LED's so bright, it's like staring into the sun :)
i can only hope that when i die, they lay it into my grave with me..haha

NICE! isnt having 32GB ram a bit over the top? i mean, it must run like a dream, i thought having 1.5GB ram was fast having upgraded from 512MB, and also, my system is NOWHERE near yours, but you have that *beast* running on a 550W PSU, i had a 650W and it died, i now have a 750W!

hrm...well that's a hard question to answer, but i'll try and explain it like this.
up until this point, i've run windows with approximately 125 processes after about 5 or 6 days uptime, with about 9.5 GB of memory being used...unfortunately, from what i've observed, windows hasn't learned how to use memory efficiently, (or data for that matter) and over time, uses more & more. the major offender here is a stupid process that i've never seen fully explained anywhere. it's called audiodg.exe, which is described as "windows audio device graph isolation" WHATEVER that means..lol...this stupid thing uses up more and more memory over time, and along with everything else it gets worse & worse. i've run windows with uptimes of 32 days or more, and that is my normal goal- to not have to reboot my whole system more than a couple of times a month. according to calculations i've made, based on how much memory windows uses, i would need approximately 800 - 1000 MB of new memory per day with that many processes running. when i let windows run for 32 days uptime, i'm almost at 30 GB...lol...so we'll see how much higher i can go...about the power supply, i chose my graphics cards exactly because they gave me excellent graphics yet used very little power compared to today's beasts. i mentioned how much power my system uses at idle, and at full load..it's very efficient ;)
thanks for ur interest

hrm...well that's a hard question to answer, but i'll try and explain it like this.
up until this point, i've run windows with approximately 125 processes after about 5 or 6 days uptime, with about 9.5 GB of memory being used...unfortunately, from what i've observed, windows hasn't learned how to use memory efficiently, (or data for that matter) and over time, uses more & more. the major offender here is a stupid process that i've never seen fully explained anywhere. it's called audiodg.exe, which is described as "windows audio device graph isolation" WHATEVER that means..lol...this stupid thing uses up more and more memory over time, and along with everything else it gets worse & worse. i've run windows with uptimes of 32 days or more, and that is my normal goal- to not have to reboot my whole system more than a couple of times a month. according to calculations i've made, based on how much memory windows uses, i would need approximately 800 - 1000 MB of new memory per day with that many processes running. when i let windows run for 32 days uptime, i'm almost at 30 GB...lol...so we'll see how much higher i can go...about the power supply, i chose my graphics cards exactly because they gave me excellent graphics yet used very little power compared to today's beasts. i mentioned how much power my system uses at idle, and at full load..it's very efficient ;)
thanks for ur interest

Aha, that's okay, but what graphics cards are they, SLI ready? since im on a budget i upgrade wherever i can, and since my dad is a Network Engineer, i find all sorts of spare parts and goodies in his car ;) . But most of my system are parts that i have bought myself.
At the moment i have got an old Dell Optiplex GX270 collecting dust under my desk, and im hoping to turn it into some sort of media center PC that i can put downstairs in the dining room connected to a 26" LCD TV. it will happen, lol :D

Hello Vista Forums. New member here, I'm a friend of LordJohnx3 and he said I should register here, so I did. Here are a couple pics of our recent LAN party. The desktop is mine and the laptop is John's. Please check out my specs in the My System Specs tab, and rate them, if you could.
