Will this eVGA Precision program work with any system, and any graphics card. I thinking about tinkering with this OC stuff.

as for the 750i and 780i. the 750i regular takes ddr800, but the 750i FTW model takes 1066, and I have my 1066 running at 1120 Mhz in my 750i FTW.

Can you post a link to the FTW model or the price of it??

I'd rather get the mobo that supports faster memory....

~Jeff~

@ thepizzaman:

An NZXT Tempest is a little overkill for those specs, especially if nothing is overclocked. Each to their own though! It's a very nice case regardless!
haha yes.... for the moment :) but...... eventually a amd quad (either the 9950 or on of the new denebs) a new mobo and a 3870 (at least on crossfire prolly) will go in this case :) as i have said before....... specs are subject to change without notice...... lol :)

pizzaman, I'd highly... Highly recommend the new deneb II over the older quads from AMD.. get the Phenom II 920.. or the 940 at 3.0 Ghz would be a great choice, as you'd get some decent OC's from it.

and bassfisher, No, evga precision is for GPU's ONLY.. it's a overclocking/monitoring program, but I've tried many from RivaTuner, to nTune, to Nvidia System Tools, to some no namer.. and eVGA precision is by far the best.

You can control ANY Nvidia card, so that means eVGA, ASUS, XFX, Sparkle, PNY.. etc.. anything that is a Nvidia card, it doesn't support ATI. i use it on my brothers XFX 8800 alpha dog with no problems.

I have my precision set to start on startup, and start minimized also. So you don't have another window poping up. it's just nicely in the system tray. it's a great program. I recommend it for all Nvidia users.

also, 96 accord, those are the correct links to newegg.com that someone posted. I've actually emailed newegg.com and asked them to add FTW! to the higher priced one that is listed, as they have the same titles and it confuses some people. I'm over at evga.com forums and have seen a few peeps get the non FTW edition on accident, and it cannot run SLI in full PCI-E 16x speeds. it's got 2 PCI-E slots but SLI only runs in 8x, but the FTW runs in full SLI. (If you understand that) not to mention the solid-state caps, and the higher OC. Plus the regular 750i SLI is DDR2-800, and the 750i SLI FTW is DDR2-800 (OC to 1066).. if you get ram with EPP. it will go to 1066 for you. and be all good, but if it's something like G-skill, they don't have EPP in there chips, and it will read as DDR2-6400 in that board. (EPP is Enhanced Performance Profile) some ram have it built in, like I had 2x2GB G-skill 1066, and they showed as ddr2-800 in my 750i ftw, because they don't have the EPP. and I could never.. ever get them stable at rated 1066, highest stable that ram was at 933.. anything higher I got blue screens... but I now have Corsair Dominator 1066 2x2GB ram. and it showed up as 1066 right away, and setting to 1120 Mhz was a breeze.

Good Luck, I'd suggest spending the extra $49 and get the better FTW edition, just in case you want to run SLI in the future (I said I wasn't going to need it, but I have it now) plus the better one has a MIR.. so it would even out. Jump on that.

See, in his link.. look at both of them. on the top one where it says PCI-Express 2.0 16x: They run at 2.0x8.. Single slot will be 16x full speed PCI-E (Like was intended) but SLI won't run at full SLI 16x

then the bottom, more expensive one says: 2.. just meaning both slots run at full 16x.

Thanks for taking the time to go into detail to explain the difference! Really helps out alot! I thought everyone kept saying FTW just because. lol not because there was a better model out there lol

yeah the thing is huge and works awesome man, i had to actually remove my 200mm fan on the side of the case to make it fit, very small loss compared to the huge temps difference for the cpu, idle at 30c and load max at 55c... this is with the qx9770 overclocked to 3.95ghz..wich is pretty cool IMO for air cooling, at stock its even better. load is like 45c, but i can accept 55c for load with that decent OC i have..

ps: oh..i can only imagine the new v10's by CM unbelievable....

Pretty nice system you have there Emulator.. Nice work. I forgot about the P190.. nice case.

yea, those V8's are huge. and idling at 30 and load at 55c is pretty decent for your overclock, especially since your on the older QX9770.. I was told they ran pretty hot. I had the QX6850 and it was terrible. Was worse than my Q6700. so I sold that junker for more than I got it for. haha.. but I can't image spending what you did for your chip. But now they have the Q9650.. that does wonders like your chip does. and I had to get one. I love it. 4.0 ghz was a breeze actually. it wasn't even fun.. cuz wasn't very hard.. lol.

Anyways, As promised to everyone, freelancer, amplid, and all you dudes/ dudettes.. Here's the latest picture I took just about an hour ago. I'm up and running on my Water Cooling. Loving it so far.

CompleteLoop-1.jpg

I'm currently running at 4.0 Ghz with 1.304v on my Quad, my idle temps are 26c, but idle doesn't matter. It's the loads that count. This is my first boot up with my water loop, but so far my highest load temp was pretty low. I ran Prime 95 for 35 minutes and my load temps were 40, 37, 38, 38... Must say I'm pretty happy with H20 results so far. I can't wait to try another Bench at 4.3 Ghz tomorrow and see what the temps are..

More pics coming soon. Check my log in overclocking & cooling tomorrow!

oh and emulator.. what voltage do you need for that 3.9 ghz clock?

um ..im not an experienced overclocker.. i just played around with things in the bios till i got a stable boot up..and stable gaming..and everything...i think i set the voltage to the cpu at 1.36v or something..
(i should try to lower for maybe lower temps..i see u have yours at 1.304v , maybe i dont need all that voltage),
but i dont see that voltage being constant under idle operations... i see the cpu clock dip to like 2.6ghz sometimes.. i guess its the halt state? to keep it cool during idle..when it starts to work.. it stays at the constant 3.95ghz....i disabled speedstep of course.. but whatever i did , i guess i did right lol...oh and by the way i bought the qx9770 on ebay for $650 used .. it was bought from a pc shop that ( supposedly) used it for 3 days and then put it back in the box( they had high positive feedback ) ..even if they lied..its working splendidly..so im happy :) i owned the qx6850.. and UGHH! this is sooo much better especially for OC

ps: and BTW..AWESOME rig u got there.. soon u may need to add some water to those gfx cards lol.. and let them blossom :)

Yea, I thought about water on the GPU's, but they max out on hard games like Crysis, While heavily OC'd from 576 to 720 Mhz.. at around 61 and 57c.. so thats not that bad, better than most 260's.

I want to cool my NB and SB though.

and as for the OC. I have the newest E0 stepping from intel, on my chip and they run better, cooler, and with less volts than most other chips. I'm almost positive you won't be able to run 4.0 with as low as volts just cuz the type of chip you have.. it's a C1 right, or C0.. you can see what type in Core Temp.

Also do you check your overclock with something other than games, like OCCT, or Prime 95.. as you should. also something that can help with Quad core overclocks is adding some fsb/vtt voltage.. that will help the clock, and in turn you can lower vcore, and that will lower temps. give it a try if you'd like, but save your current settings also.

let me know if you have oc questions.

i use everest to monitor temps and stuff..and i used the stress test ..i better give prime95 a try ..since i hear its one of the best for testing oc's, ill give the fsb voltage a shot to maybe lower the cpu voltage.. btw..yeah its c1
