OMG! Can someone please help me?!!

Ok, I'm doing a Restore C: Drive. I'm sooo bummed. I don't have the Vista disk but I've got all day. I DO have the Vista recovery in the form of an .iso file so I can put it on my thumb drive. So, even though it says that it's going to delete all my personal files, it will actually save them in a folder for me?

And do any of you have any idea of what could have started all this?! I'm so paranoid about my pc that it really gets me that something like this could happen. Grrrr.

P.S. You guys really saved my tookus...phew.

We'll see what happens; Restore C: Drive is at 60%...

Sunne

And YES!!! I need to be walked through this! Arrrrgh!

My Computer

Pooch, thanks for the advice; but I had a couple of questions...first, I kept pressing F10 at the Sony Logo screen and I got to the VAIO Recovery Center..YEY! However the "Restore C: Drive" looks pretty ominous. I don't have an external hard drive big enough for the "Rescue Data" function. If I do the Restore Complete System it says that the "new" drive will use all available disk space unless I create a second partition.
You will have to post your PC details I cant see the web site without and I do not know what you mean by "Rescue Data" function

How do I save my files, as you previously mentioned?

Unless it is written differently on the web page it should be done for you

How/should I create a partition?

You should not have to

Pooch,

I waited for the logo to show up, then I pressed F10 until I got the Vaio Recovery Center. The Center had options such as: Rescue Data, Windows System Restore (which I tried to no avail), Restore C:Drive, Complete System Restore and Hardware Diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics first and the system said that there were no hardware errors. Then i tried the rescue data function and if I had about 6 GB of external memory then I could have transferred it; but I don't. So, now I'm trying the Restore C: Drive...it's already reformatted the hard drive and now I've got a windows screen up that is doing it's thing...(the little blue circle going round and round), now it's just restarted itself...looks normal...so far...holy cow!

I'm at the Welcome screen and it's reinstalling the software...this is overwriting the c: drive right? It's not creating another c: drive is it?

Well, it's still reinstalling all the software; it's 73% done with that at this point. I'm going to locate that folder as soon as I'm able to log on. So, this is basically as though I just got this pc out of the box, right? I have to configure all my logon's, passwords...etc...everything, right?

Question: How are you reinstalling the OS? You said you do not have Vista DVD?

When I pressed F10 at the Vaio logo it brought me to a Vaio Recovery Center where it had the options I listed previously in the posts above. I clicked on "Restore C:Drive" and it said that it would delete all files but it would reinstall all pre-installed programs. Which is what it is doing now...no disk was needed apparently for my model of Vaio.

Open Computer and then go inside C: Local disk. There you may (may not) find a folder named Windows.old.
