I just don't bloody believe this.....I switch the system off this morning to put my dvb-s2 card in and it wont power back on!!! with exactly the same symptoms as the last mobo

FFS!!! ... Its gotta be dual GPU related.

does your RAM voltage default to 1.65v..?? if its too high it will cause probs with i7..

i cant understand it... new PSU, new mobo, the cards are confirmed working..

does it not even post..?? will it run with one 260...??

Hi John,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. What happens if you remove your dvb-s2 card and try again without it installed? Loosen the motherboard on its tray slightly and then reinsert the card. It is possible that you might have got the board slightly out of line so that the securing points for your expansion cards aren't quite aligned correctly. Don't forget to retighten the screws when everything is lined up properly.

Ram voltage defaults to 1.5, but I have tried manually setting it at 1.65 and this doesn't make any difference.

The problem seems the 12v rail isnt coming up, maybe it's a faulty batch of PSU's.

I've just switched over to my old 600w PSU and i'm back up and running, I will give it a few hours and if it continues to work fine then I will go and swap another PSU

:eek: what are the chances of that, 2 BNIB PSUs, if you get a new one & it works the likelihood is there was nothing wrong with the old board , oh well this one's better....lol,

well that didn't take long ....

here's the MSI x58 offering with apparently the same issue.....
if it is an inherent chipset problem that will be a bugger!!

i don't think there's any other chipset for i7 off the top of my head..??

Just been giving it a good looking at and the way the PSU is situated, it blows straight onto to bottom on the mobo around the PCI-E slots

I have switched back to the "new" PSU but with it out of the "case" and lets see if this makes any difference.

Everything is running sweet now, I think all the problems were caused by poor ventilation of the psu.
