Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

My MB has Realtek HD audio onboard I ended up diabling and buying a sound card with it enabled I had the following issues.
Computer reset button would not work would make the lights just sit and blinkk on my video card. All overclocking functions of my motherboard would not accept any changes other than factory default would reset them back everytime. And I would constantly get lag sound It was horrible I dont know if it was a combination of maybe my video card with the sound or just the drivers either way I ended up disabling it and buying a new sound card your always better off not using on board sound anyway. After disabling all my problems went away

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

I'm running R1.72 (though R1.76 is out on the Realtek page (Realtek)

Everything works fine except that front panel, works, but doesn't auto detect. Very strange there. Again, mic and headphones both work great through the first panel, but the system doesn't auto-detect it. No matter - I disable autodetection anyway, because I want my headphones and rear output on separate channels (I only use the headphones for IM/phone calls).

I find that setup most useful. Advanced Settings "Untie front and rear outputs" then in the box you've been discussing, disable front panel detection. It will be on all the time now. You can configure your communication apps accordingly. I prefer setting skype to ring through the back, but use the headphones for calls..

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

I've been having Realtek Driver issues ever since I switched to Vista64 and with these newest drivers it's the same problem.

No sound from center/sub only get sound from front/back left/right.

Could I be installing the drivers wrong? You said you needed to install twice, once to uninstall and once to install? I ran setup several times it didnt say anything about uninstalling it's the same routine everytime.

I noticed theres other folders in that driver download, a vista64 folder and a plain vista, is there something else to do when installing these or am I missing something?

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi Talon191,

Welcome to the forum.

All you need to do is run the Setup file. It will install what it needs from the vista64 folder. To make sure that you have the latest version installed, look in Device Manager and click on the Sound, Video, and Controllers listing and then the Realtek High Definition Audio device. Make sure you have driver version 6.0.1.5477 under the Driver tab. If not, you will need to install the driver again.

Well, of course (haha), double check to make sure everything is plugged in properly.

In the Control Panel (Classic View), double check your settings under the Speakers tab in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Make sure that you have Speaker 5.1 selected under Speaker Configuration. Make sure that the Subwoofer, Center, and the other speakers are checked. Click OK to apply.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

I;ve been having this problem with the Realtek HD Audio device onboard my Asus P5K

Problem is that the sound, whether its on games, movies or music, the sound stutters and skips and crackles. I've pinned it down to my Graphic Card driver. Everytime I update the driver for my graphic card (8600 GTS), the problem occurs. I have the latest Realtek driver- but when I also update my graphic card driver, the problem persists

So, I am stuck using the old driver that came with the graphic card when I first bought it

Is anyone else having this problem? How can I solve this? It's driving me MAD!! Please help!

Thanks

Hi MyNameIs,

Welcome to the forum.

Not sure what the problem is from. Have you installed the lated BIOS and chipset drivers for your P5K?

Here is the link for them. Enter Motherboard (Select Product), LGA775 (Select Series), P5K (Select Models) at the link, and click Search.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi Shawn,

Yes I do have the latest Bios (which was released some time ago!).

Edit: I just found out that its not actually the sound! I decided to play a game, (Colin Mcrae's DiRT) and since the menu screen is 3D and is always moving and flowing around, it paused for like a split second every 5 seconds, just like the sound was. So im suspecting it wasnt the sound driver that was causing this, but the Graphic card Driver itself! It causes my PC to crackle every 4-5 seconds for a split second

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Hi,
Brink or anyone who is willing to help me get out of this mess.

After suddenly not being able to use the microphone in my headset with Skype (did it really ever work, I ask myself, or was it always the built in mike?) I've been struggling. I can't even tell why it suddenly started working again, but I think it was reinstalling it, tampering everything that could be tampered with in all possible combinations... I'm not a very technical person, I'm just innovative.

However, after the built in mike started working again I got greedy and tried to make the headset microphone work as well and installed the newest drivers that you recommend on this thread. So now, nothing works properly:

- The headphones stopped working, even if the control panel thinks so. I get sound if I connect my speakers into the same front line in, but the sound is really hollow. Same goes for the built in speakers, the sound is not good.
- When I installed the new drivers, the tabs for improvements disappeared in the control panel/sound/microphones.
- The built in mike doesn't work anymore, it just picks up static.

So please, help me. I'm starting to take this very personal, especially the control panel which is in some sick kind of denial telling me that everything works just fine.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

MyNameIs,

You might try performing a Repair Install to see if this will clear the problem up. If not, you may need to stick with the original sound driver, that has no problems, until they update either the video or audio driver without any problems.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Please help me!! I have suffered the same problem as Talon. I have an Altec Lansing 5.1 speaker system working with a Realtek sound card. All worked well under XP but since upgrading to Vista, I can only get the Front Left and Right speakers to work on both audio CDs and games.

I have downloaded the new driver and followed the installation instructions above. I have also checked the configuration settings in Control Panel. When I test each speaker in the "Choose Configuration" section each of the 6 speakers work fine. Then I put an audio CD in, use Media Centre and get just the Front Left and Right speakers! The same happens with the 5.1 games.

At my wits end. Grateful for any advice or ideas.

Thanks.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi Andypaws,

Welcome to the forum.

You might check in the game and CD player programs to see if they have separate audio settings that need to be adjusted. You might also try having Speaker Fill checked in the Realtek HD Audio Mananer in the Control Panel under the Speaker Configuration tab. I do not know what else to check since everything works fine with the test sound play.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi! Thank you for your welcome.

Some success. I have done what you said and get all the speakers working OK except for the Sub Woofer. However, when I select "Stereo/Surround" on the speaker system remote control, the Sub Woofer works along with only the Front Left and Right!!

Any final suggestions.
