Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

LOL. It seems like you tried just about everything. Have you also tried removing it from Device Manager as well?

What does it show it's name as in Device Manager?

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Should be "Realtek High Definition Audio". Looks like you have the generic version Vista put on it from installation.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Well that is very interesting. Any ideas on how to get the regular driver? Problem is I have the install file from Realteks website so either that is wrong or Vista just hates me.

I can only assume you would get one from the driver at Asus' site.

The non-generic ones usually do.

Well I'm off to get some sleep. I'm hitting the 18 hour mark of being awake. :sleepy: LOL

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Ok so my mobo came with SoundMax HD audio software. Only problem is when I look online I can see that there is apparently a SoundMax manager but wherever I look for drivers for vista none of them come with the manager, they are driver only. So I am trying to figure out how on earth that is going to work. Also apparently according to my bios my front panel input can only be AC' 97 or HD audio, which I think is just preinstalled on vista. So with soundmax it doesn't recognize my front ports. Here is one last question. If I were to get a soundcard and just turn off in the bios my HD audio setup do you think it could run the same audio stream through my speakers and headphones at the same time and do you think my front panel would work? If not then crap, I screwed up with getting my mobo !

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Sciz,

You should be able to. Just make sure that the sound card has a compatible x64 Vista driver, has multi-streaming audio capability, and that it can plug the front panel into it. Check out the sound card at it's website and Google it before you buy it to see if it is what you want.

I can't believe that it doesn't have a audio manager of it's own other than Vista's built in GUI manager.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Man, so apparently it works with intel, but not AMD? Or maybe it only comes with intel mobos. I saw on their website information about the Soundmax driver and audio manager for the new Intel vista mobos. I doubt I could download that and put it onto my Asus AMD setup. That would be like crossing apples with oranges I suppose.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Did you download the driver from Asus?

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Just cut and paste this below into the Input Model to Search in the upper left corner and press Enter:

M2n32-SLi Premium Vista Edition

Then select it (in the top middle) to see the list of drivers. Scroll through the list and you will see the audio ones.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Yea I did all that, and a bag of chips :). I think I might just get a soundcard that will allow for front panel inputs. I just need to look at what I can get, I don't want to spend over $100 if I don't have to. I don't need crystal clear quality sound. BTW to have Realtek HD manager what is your setup? Like what mobo, processor and/or sound card do you have?

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Sciz,

Realtek HD Audio was a integrated sound chip on my Intel D102GGC2 mobo. No PCI sound card. Nothing special required. The Realtek HD manager was just part of the driver software that came straight from Realtek instead of some OEM or mobo manufacturer. I have a Intel 64 bit 3 GHz P4. The computer itself is a eMachines T5048A. Not the T5048 as it was labeled LOL, but that is ok. The T5048A is much better.

You can probably find a good cheap sound card at any computer store for what you need and want. Most of them are integrated into the mobo now.

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

I find it ridiculous having to buy a soundcard in order to use my headphones the way i use them in Windows Xp.

Is there a registry change where i can identify what i have connected???
Since i do not get this image as i do in XP

Is there a way to manually enter the "values" on the registry to what i have connected on which plug???

Re: New Realtek HD audio driver update

Highlander,

I can not believe I did not notice this little thing earlier. In the Realtek HD Audio Manager from Control Panel, look at the folder boxed in red below at the upper right corner. Click on it and it will open a window where you can check to enable that popup window to select headphones.
