We’re excited to release IE8 Beta 2 today for public download. You can find it at http://www.microsoft.com/ie8. Please try it out!

You’ll find versions for 32- and 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008. In addition to English, IE8 Beta 2 is available in Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), and German. Additional languages will be available soon.
While Beta 1 was for developers, we think that anyone who browses or works on the web will enjoy IE8 Beta 2. Before the team blogs about our Beta 2 in detail, here’s an overview of what you’ll find in IE8.
We focused our work around three themes: everyday browsing (the things that real people do all the time), safety (the term most people use for what we’ve called ‘trustworthy’ in previous posts), and the platform (the focus of Beta 1, how developers around the world will build the next billion web pages and the next waves of great services). ......

Microsoft have released an updated “Report a Webpage Problem” tool to help us capture website compatibility issues with IE8.

If you have used the tool before or are new to it, You can download it from here When you encounter a site that is not rendering correctly, you can submit a report using the link found in the Tools Menu.

Microsoft use these compatibility reports to populate the compatibility test suite with real site issues seen by users around the world.

Im using IE7Pro quite well with IE8, it doesnt have issues I dont know about iespell because I use IE7Pro`s Spellcheck

Well, just got done installing it.
First thing I noticed is I can't add to my favorites, also I can't delete some of the
CRAP the installer placed in my favs. folder ... so far, not impressed!

Also I just discovered that it will now, not open IE on my primary monitor.
No matter what I do it will open on my secondary monitor, which is a real PITA.
Because most times in the morning I'm using my second monitor (my 47" TV) for
TV watching and when it opens on the 'TV' I have to switch sources to get to the IE window.
I'm just glad I found this out when I was not 'using' the TV, as I may not have
known why it wouldn't open.

I feel an un-install coming on!

Have you already tried dragging the IE8 window to the Primary monitor and close it, then see if it will open back there?

Same here, no issues. And iespell is working as well! :D

Has anyone noticed that when you clear your internet history that the address bar still keeps your searching history? It doesn't really clear it. Suppose it is a bug?

Interesting question Shimei,

Theres an extra option on the "Delete Browsing Hystory" called "Preserve favourite website data" for saving some cached data for wesbites, You might need to untick that box before it completely deletes everything

I installed it, tried it but did not like it, I prefer to use Firefox still, it has a better lay out better Add-ons and I prefer the spell check, also found that it hangs when you try to close it sometimes, and it doesn't give the option to save and quit, which I use all the time on Firefox.

I will still leave it on there I think as I never use it anyway LOL

Hi,

Just closed IE8 and ran ccleaner as usual set to delete history and cookies - it deleted them as usual even tho. "preserve website data " was enabled - so no extra effort required there.
Only thing it didn't remove was history from the address bar. Also , using mouse click to reposition cursor .e.g. right now , is all over the place.

Yes I tried all that numerous times, to no avail.
I still can't add/delete favs. but that's not a real problem, there's ways around that.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a FF fanboy I like IE and I like what I see of IE 8.
I will install it when it is released after the betas.
I just want to use the restore point I created before install before it gets too old!

I already sussed this, but when I had checked "history", unchecked "preserve favorite website data" and hit "delete", history still remained under the address bar.

I have lost the ability to use my mouse click to position the cursor e.g. in this post I am doing now - have to use the arrow keys - does anyone know what that's about please?

Seems a bit faster.
Like the colored tabs & Inprivate Browsing idea.
Also like that when I click on a link that crosses security zones, it opens in a tab instead of in a new window.
Scrolling a page seems rougher.
If I change the size on a page, it doesn't remember the setting. Remembers if I use the back button to return to the page, but not if I use a link or in a new session.
In addition to not being able to use the mouse to set the cursor position, I can't select words or sentences for editing unless it is the last word or sentence. Arrow keys work.
IE7Pro is loaded, but the spell checker isn't working at the moment.

Oops, I spoke to soon. It seems that every so often I will get the Internet Explorer has stopped working error when I click on some random link at this site. For example, a member's name in a post. It will recover from the error, but will repeat again if I click on it again. If I add the site in the Compatiblity View Setttings (Tools menu), it works perfectly.

Have any of you experienced any compatibility issues like this?
