Windows won't boot!

This is SO STUPID! I open my laptop to show someone something. Working perfectly fine. I then shut it down, but I don't have the patience to wait on computers to shut down. Usually I leave the lid open when I'm @ home, but I was out, so I closed it while it was shutting down. (Don't quote me, but I'm SURE I've done this plenty of times without a problem). Get home later and now the comp won't boot/start. I'm getting this error message: "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Atl+Del to restart". Did a little web searching and they say I need a Vista Boot DVD or some ****.

So I get the Vista Boot DVD. "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" Pressed the any key."Windows is loading files..." After it finishes loading files I get the little green progress bar under the "Microsoft Corporation". Then the DVD stops spinning and it sits there FOREVER with a black screen... WHY?! What's wrong?!

I can't go to f8 nor f11 and restore anything because it just won't let me. I CAN access BIOS and mess around with stuff there, but I don't what to mess around with. Anyone know where I can go or what I can do to solve this problem? My computer is my LIFE And ONE day without it costs me money. PLEASE help!

I would never open the body of my computer. I don't trust myself. The 1980 'Boop' sound works when I press an incorrect key, but I have no way to test the REAL volume.

Just listen closely to your laptop and the Clicking sound is your HDD Working if it isn't or it is Tried to Turn then Fails then that is an Indication that your HDD Needle is out of Place

Also If it doesn't make any Noise then that is the sign your HDD Is on deaths door :(

Hard disks are completetly and utterly sealed. One would fine it very difficult to open one, and if one did, the hard disk would definietly be dead!

I don't know what sounds to listen for or what they mean. I'm not a computer builder. I'm a regular guy with a laptop and a disc I paid $15 for to repair it. I notice that LOTS of people across the net have this problem and wonder if it has a solution.

Programs: Do you have a DVD to reinstall?
Doucments. Did you back up pictures and documents etc?

We are getting close, if not there now, that we have to reinstall or at least restore to factory settings. If we do you will lose all programs and documents. I can give you a way to backup documents, but programs will require a DVD, unless downloaded from the net. In the future backup once a month to avoid problems.

You can back up everything with software like Macrium Reflect. It takes a pic of your hard drive. Windows 7 has a native hard drive back up, system image.
Here is a bulletin from MS describing how the built in backup works with the higher priced editions of Vista

Back up your programs, system settings, and files
