Windows Vista Crash Problems

Hey I just stumbled upon some files that may or may not be the sc2 dump files. They are some kind of error files. I will send them now.

You did very good Alex, this is what I saw.

This is what it means.

The game was using a lot of old drivers and or .dll. Some may have to be replaced. Any driver for your OS that is not from MS and is old may have to be replaced. Anything older than 3/09 must be suspect.

It would be my suggestion that the game, if old, be replaced for a newer version.
Vista and 7 do not play well with old technology. These are state of the art OS and require software capable of meeting the challenge. You can try to update the drivers, if even available, but if the problem is only with these two games there is nothing wrong with the computer.
If you are going to ask, why did this never happen before. Well this is not the same Vista that you bought years ago. There have been 2 SPs and a ton of updates.

Wait I'm a little confused, Starcraft 2 only came out on July 27, 2010. It is barely a month old how can it not support vista? On another note, what do you mean update the drivers for the game? Are there specific game driver updates I should look for or do you mean I should update my system drivers, because I thought I was up to date. I'm sorry if I'm not getting this lol.

Ah, and also I just got some kind of pop up while playing the game. It says:
"Interactive Services dialog detection
A Program can't display a message on your desktop
The program may need information or permission to complete a task.
Why does this happen?
-> Show me the message
-> Remind me in a few minutes
Show program details"

I'm not sure what this is either but it just started to appear, any idea what to do to make it go away?

I was not aware if the game was new or old. You can look at the list of drivers and .dll that I have given you. Those represent the drivers or.dll that were in use during the game play. At least the older ones should be replaced. Some go back to 06.
If you prefer we can test them with a driver verifier. The test puts the system understress and causes system BSOD, with the name of the offending driver, the test must be run 36 hours If you are interested, let me know.

I have highlighed the very old drivers that appear on your report, take a look you will see what I mean.

Any MS drivers or DLL do not have to be replaced.

Alright I see what you mean but how can I have drivers from 2006 when I only got this computer in 2008? And also I would like to do that test you are speaking of, I just have to arrange a time period in which I can run it.

Off topic again but that Interactive service dialog detection box keeps appearing no matter how many times I tell it to show me the message any idea on what it is? It says it's it may be because some programs aren't compatible with windows, but I have no idea what program it is or how to resolve it.

Any drivers that are from MS can be ignored they may account for some of the older drivers. They are the drivers that were used by MS when the OS was made public.

Unfortunately, the mystery gets bigger and bigger. The interactive service can pop up if there are virus or malware.

I suggest that you run a full virus scan and download and run malwarebytes. Run on the full scan (takes about 90 minutes) and update the definitions before you start.

Once we are satisifed that there are no virus or malware. Take the Memory test that I gave you run for 6 passes (usually overnight). If negative we can move on, if positive take a good stick and test each MB slot.

If negative
We can test the Drivers. Which makes it easier on you,now. You can forget about the drivers.

That interactive thing turned out to be some dell data safe local back up. I'm not sure if it's really dell or some random virus like you said but it directed me to this site: "http://dslbdownload.ddsupdate1.com/DSLDownload-en.html"
Now it's making me partition some thing not sure what, but I'm kind of worried now lol.

Alex, this thing is beginning to mushroom to the point that neither one of us knows what is happening. Lets check one thing at a time so we can rule it out.
Do the virus and malware test. Lets at least be sure of that. These are tests that you should be doing anyway. When done we can go to step 2.

Hey, sorry about the delay but I have successfully downloaded and ran malwarebytes, I updated the definitions and after a full scan the reports shows no infections. Also I did a full virus scan of my computer like you said to and it also said I have no infections. So that should be step one complete. Also the interactive service pop up hasn't done anything yet, it just made me download an updated version of my dell datasafe local back up. Don't know why it made me download it through that interactive service pop up but everything seems alright now, sorry about the worrying back there thought my computer was going into some kind of self destruct mode.

Quick question, in the tutorial they use a USB memory stick or a blank CD to test the memory. Is it possible to just download the application and run it as it is or do I need either a blank CD or USB to test my memory?

Alright so I ran memtest86+, I started kind of late which is why this update on the situation is so late. So, after 7 passes the test showed no errors and everything looked fine. I guess that's step 2 done :). Let me know what I should do next when you can and thanks again for all your help, I already fixed some smaller issues just by stumbling upon random stuff in my computer :D.

OK step 2a, if not already done, try the memory test once again, while playing the game. Keep the test running until the thing crashes.

Wait how do I take the test while playing the game? Doesn't memtest86+ start up on boot like mine did than start testing? How would I exit from that blue screen to log back in and play the game?

I misspoke, lets put it this way. Turn on Memtest and play the game. I want to see if there are memory errors during the game. Turn it on and forget about it, just play the game normally.

Alright so basically you want me to reboot my computer and on boot start up memtest, than once memtest starts up click ESC to reboot again so I can log in and play? Or do you mean something else like just run the exe file while my computer is already logged in, which wont do anything I think because it has to start up on boot to start testing my memory if I understand things right. Sorry if I'm having trouble following but I'm kind of confused about how to turn memtest on and than play, because to turn it on I have to reboot right and than to get back into windows I would have to click ESC again to reboot so wouldn't it stop testing my memory?

Alright so I have done a couple scan and found some corrupted files that could not be repaired. Right now I am reading about how to repair them but I am really lost at how to just find these files. The code that the link you gave me to find the corrupted files or files that were not repair doesn't seem to do anything when I type it into cmd. Also I'm looking at some Microsoft site to try and find out how to find these files but again the code it tells me to enter doesn't seem to send me anywhere. I'm not sure if the code is an example code and it should change according to each persons scan or if I just copy and paste the code? Sorry again command prompt scares me :D.
